All I’m saying is Dre in those shoes means one thing. A W for the Beloved. Proud of these boys pushing and as Bardo perfectly said we keep our foot on that throat till the last whistle. N look what the results are. Burned The Barn tonight

Anyone who is still saying Garza leads over Ayo for that honor now, is a hack. You are correct, Ayo's D and all around game is better than Garza.
If they do. Then they had it written in stone before the season even started. Just keep proving why Ayo is feared af. Steps on the court and he taps the Illinois and does hIs thing. Maybe not at all once. He does it better than anyone when it comes to his pace and endurance. Wear and tear and then make em dare.

That was the greatest game ever in the history of the universe. I have the panoramic photo of the Hall framed in my Illinois shrine.
I am still seeing orange to this day. What an orange blur in my mind's eye, and Jay Bilas saying Wake didn't take the punch - or something like that. Had that complete game on VHS but only seconds on a DVD review of that great season now at least. Thanks for the memory.

Am watching replay on FS1: fun city. There is really no substitute for speed (as in fast) in sports, except for curling. Illini were fast both ways on court and great passers against Minnesota. Keep it up, Illini. I like speed and accurate passing. Good things will happen.

Illini 5 - 1 on the road in the Big Ten this year. We have a better road record than home. Strange, 6 - 1 after Tues. I guess I just made a prediction.

Sorry, meant fast as in baseball, football, basketball, etc. (Speed is very important in curling and bowling). Illini are fast, speedy and are probably very good bowlers and curlers.

Good night all.

ILLINI!

I am legit offended. They just showed the top 10 plays on Sportscenter and nothing from this game made the cut. I may be a homer with two of Curbelo’s passes and the Kofi block/Ayo fast break slam... but Trent’s steal/half court heave should have been the top play and it wasn’t even a mention. A high school game in the north burbs had a buzzer beater on the list.

A sign of things to come for Pitino. I love his reaction here. I'm sure it sad something other than frustration that Kofi made the shot, but I'm not so sure.

Agree...but.....if Ayo rolls an ankle before getting that last rebound.....makes it difficult to defend the decision of leaving him in.....not to mention the effect on the rest of the season
Grasping for a negative take on this game?

Extremely proud of this team's defense and offensive play today! They brought it on both sides of the court and as a team today! They took the shots instead of making too many passes; and passing up shots then having to force up a bad one with the shot clock about to expire. Well, after the one where Trent passed up the wide open 3 and gave it back to Curbelo. He said my fault and went on a tear after that! That's the Trent I remember! 👏 Hell of a game! Hell of a team! Go Illini!

The replay I watched on the local news didn't even show him jumping the pass, which, for me, makes it one of the greatest plays of the season.

Miller’s dunk, of all the dunks, was my favorite. He went up and some authority. Took me by surprise/
The way he just palmed the ball in stride was awesome. Loved seeing his activity early in this game too. Didn't pop on the stat sheet, but he looked good out there. And that pass to Ayo on the break was beautiful.

That said, those late game minutes where he was the main creator left on the floor shows how much work he'll need to put in to be "the man" next year. He's still adjusting to driving against length and tough, focused defense. Hopefully DMW sticks around and is the guy making him work in practice. Or occasionally stick Hawkins on him so he has to adjust to drives against length.

Obviously yesterday was just a heck of a showing in all facets of the game, but my favorite part by far was how pumped everybody was whenever we had a dunk or made an awesome play. You see a guy jamming it and in the background the other guys (on the court in particular) are hopping in exuberance, fist pumping, etc. We are playing for each other right now and it's a beautiful thing to behold.

Contrast that with the Texas teammates almost getting to fisticuffs...😬 yikes!

No...absolutely not.....just saying that leaving your best player in a game that is over, is opening up the possibility of some criticism.....really glad BU left him in and he got the triple double....just wonder what the reaction on this board would be like if Ayo would had turned an ankle in those last few minutes....I think you, I and everyone else would be demanding some answers ......that is all
