I don’t think so. Heard it’s a familiar name that most people probably won’t be happy with. No not Rob Turner, but a former NFL guy. And yes I know the name but would rather not say, and it’s not baseless.

OK then. Guess we'll wait for the announcement and you can tell us that that is who you are talking about.

Brad Childress would be an interesting fit. From Illinois and went to EIU. Coached at U of I for a couple years when they went to a Rose Bowl and was O.C. when Wisconsin was at the height of their program under Barry Alverez. Something like 5 straight bowl games including two BigTen (co) champions and two Rose Bowls. Also was OC when Ron Dayne was terrorizing the conference. Saw the name somewhere else and it is interesting.

If that were to happen those other two spots better be ace recruiters. I don’t think brad has done it in almost 20yrs

Think it'd be an intriguing hire, but an uninspiring one. I hope the other two are great recruiters, as you mentioned.

I just heard Brad Childress's name linked to the Chicago Bears OC job yesterday. I doubt someone his age/prestige would come out of retirement to take the OC job at ILL.

Mike Martz or Mike Tice :hand: :hurl:would be dissapointing

Brad Childress actually played football at U of I before transferring to EIU.

And if Childress is joining the Bears it's not as OC. They just announced (rather, ESPN) that Mark Helfrich is taking that job.

I still am hoping for the Ole Miss OC. Although that doesn't fit this description. Then the other two would have to be recruiters though. If it was Shoop, I would lose all trust in Lovie.

Good. I imagine there would be such an uproar that it would eclipse the Schiano to Tennessee protests.

It was awful down here, I had to stay home from work, open fires everywhere, gangs of lawless marauding Vol fans lurking about too! :D

Well ideally we’d have a younger up and coming oc who also is an ace recruiter. An old nfl guy would most likely give us a technically competent offense and play calling but do we want more out of this hire? I think we already have a lot of NFL experience on the coaching so adding another doesn’t do much for us there.
