Illinois football just can't go a day without embarrassing us. Tweeted out by Tim McGarigle.

"Join Cain and Bain in Champaign!" would have been just as silly of a caption, but it would have at least shown a hint of humor. Unless, the "fail fast and move on" is in reference to our athletic program which is kind of funny too.

Either way, I am mildly impressed with the class thus far. Would love to get another LB, DL, OL, RB, WR, in that order.

If they can add Dele Harding, Mj McGriff, TaDarryl Marshal, and Harvey Clayton to finish the class I would say the overall speed of the team was greatly improved.

That's what I'm looking for, speed. Especially at the linebacker spot.

At this point, failing fast would be great. We are failing in slow motion over several months and have yet to reach the nadir.

CUWPC, sorry but that would be a mistake. IMO I have been checking out all the videos on guys either ready for a visit, or a new offer. For me Clayton is not good enough. Besides we are short on both lines and linebackers so somebody from that group makes more sense.
I agree with you about speed I have posed my frustrations several times about that very thing,

Any updates on visitors or anything today seems really dead right now, usually this time of year has some chatter whether good or bad.

Played him in the state playoffs. He did nothing to impress to me and appears to be half the player of Justin Jackson even though I know he is slated for a DB. Next recruit up. Should be over 10 scholarships available on the team with the loss of players this week.

Several recruits on campus this weekend. I'm sure there will be several more that we don't even know about.

According to Werner Spears wanted to be an Illini and Illinois wanted to be an Illini they just couldn't make it happen. So, take that for what it's worth.

I know this seems to be becoming a common theme, but this one really does seem like a grades thing. It's hard enough trying to recruit with the current stigma around the program, but when admissions continues to hamstring the coaching staffs I don't see how it's possible for anyone to succeed in this job. Time to loosen up the admission standards to meet all of the other teams in the B1G. At least 2 kids we've lost now this class because they couldn't get in.

Another grades casualty?!? The standards really need to be reduced for athletes. This is getting ridiculous. Bash Jones or Miller or whoever said it from tOSU but theyre right, they didnt "come to play school". He is exactly right, they are here for football and to win games and make the school money. There are exceptions of course, but the majority of top players/athletes are all questionable in the classroom and just assume they are going pro anyway. Let them in!

The disturbing thing is that across multiple staffs we seem to be caught surprised by grade issues late in the process more often than other schools with similar restrictions. Whatever the requirements are going to be, clarity and communication flowing from admissions to the DIA to the coaching staffs to recruits and their parents is paramount.
