A Thursday night game seems like it would have been the best of both worlds for recruiting wise and exposure.
As mentioned before, it's more than likely the BTN's choice, not ours.

This was the other thing I had heard that I forgot to mention. Was told that they also wanted to move a high school game to Saturday (only during the week of our Friday game) so he could show up for the high school game (for evaluating). All these things seem a little odd and show some disconnect from Beckman.
You really think it was Beckman's decision to have a game on Friday night? There may be a disconnect between Beckman and the high school coaches but this is not part of that disconnect. Either this came from the AD having an idea about playing a game on a Friday night or BTN saying that we have to have a game on Friday night. Either way this was out of Beckman's control.
I'm not sure, but my guess is that if he had a vote, his vote didn't count as much as others. I'll assume someone thought of the potential issue and just felt the exposure was of greater benefit.
Cali who is brodner what position?

Quick Google search says Sam Brodner from Glen Ellyn IL is a 5'10" 210lb running back. He's got an offer from some MAC schools as well as us and Nevada.
Brodner would likely play defense in college.
What position? Linebacker seems to be the only possible position. Could be a solid special teamer as well.

I can see a safety out of him depending on his actual speed. He looks like he has some burst in some of the highlights I saw but I'm not positive he has the speed to play there. He does like to hit and you can see that while he has the ball or when he is blocking.
STAR LB. He's about 5'11 or 6'0 and might be a hair slow to be a RB but has shown promise on D and has a great build for that spot.
Okay, I'll admit that intrigues me. I'm still partial to having him as a short yardage/lead blocking back who could excel at pass protection, but I guess I can see him playing STAR too. Certainly not safety.
Just curious, do you think he was worth the offer? Furthermore, would you rather see him on offense or defense (independent of where you actually think he will play)?
As always, your input and expertise is great, and I am enjoying this mini back and forth of analysis we have going on. Just being clear that I mean no disrespect if I seem to be disagreeing. Just exploring your different ideas :thumb:
He's a great back and a productive one at that at the high school level playing in big boy ball in Illinois. However I feel like at the college level he lacks a bit of explosiveness and top-end speed to be a long-term RB. That being said, I do think as long as he can become a technically-sound tackler, he has the balance, body control, and solid enough speed to go along with a good build, to be a nice STAR linebacker or WLB. He isn't a tall dude, but in a way he has similar measurables as Ashante Williams, who was pretty good at the position.
Any ideas when another commit might come???
