Great news. He has good size and from the vidoe he's not afraid to stick his head in there and make a tackle.

Is this guy another under the radar/underrated guy? Looks like we were his biggest (P5) offer. (Although AF and Navy might be better offers based on recent success)

Havent really heard anyone comment or break to the news that he committed to illinois so that must be so.....usually jeremy werner or ryan easterling confirms....but hasnt yet

myself and a couple other illini football players have already retweeted it....lol that would suck if they didnt take his commitment lol

If it wasn't a "commit-able" offer, then the recruit shouldn't have publicly made a commitment. This seems to happen every year to a programs, where a kid jumps the gun a little bit.

Well we are his best offer.....with air force and navy after him.....we do need better range at db....we had short guys and now it seems like we are getting dbs with actual height

Cubit tweeted something earlier that sounded like it was related to the commitment and then mentioned getting back on the road to "spread the word". So I am guessing its legit.

we need a couple defensive ends some ol's a lb and a power back

As long as Black stays committed we are ok on the d-line. I don't really like the kid from Columbia, Missouri. but linebackers, offensive line, and tight end is the precarious positions. If Spears stays at safety and then trenard Davis comes back as a corner our secondary could be ok. If Davis comes as a safety, I would like another cornerback.

Spears looks more like a potential STAR / OLB to me than a safety.

Yup!;)
But can definitely play strong safety he looked much better in coverage this year. Shadowing, hips more fluid made for genuine improvement but his size. Which I expect to grow points toward weakside linebacker as I do not know whether they will continue use the terminology and players as stars under Phair.

Any word on trenard?is he coming back at all anyone know? i follow him on twitter and tweet illinois things to him and he retweets back....

so hopefully so.....this kenyon jackson kid really intrigues me though! and of course we can mold that 6'6 270 bball player into a great rusher like ward

i hope phair gets rid of the leo star type defense...i hate it..... i rather him run a 4-3-4 if anything... but i know he likes to walk his safeties up

I think so as well. My dream class from March had Isaiah Simmons on it. I think he would be the best recruit since peak Zook classes. I know he is 3 star some places but I really like him. Competing against Nebraska and Missouri for him

They shoulda gave cubit the 5 yr deal and bought em out...unless they are still paying zook and beckman.....its just too hard to recruit under these circumstances....

we need young coaching blood in illinois.....so hopefully we can et herman one day...hes got his kids believin!

I think herman is already at his stepping stone job, he won't be eyeballing the illini gig. He'll be positioning for a bigger job.
