Me and my son came up there for Lovie's first practice and we loved the visit and hopefully my son receives a offer because he really wants to be there. Coach Butkus was down to earth and seem as if he and my son are creating a bond. We will be back up there really soon. Here's his highlights to checkout. http://www.hudl.com/athlete/3072147/highlights/305878375/v2

I loved the highlights and can see why he has 11 offers. Best of luck to him wherever he ends up!

Moeller Dad-

I really enjoyed watching the tapes on your Son Samari. I came away with one driving question if I may.

What is the driving force to play for Illinois? I can think of many reasons to and Welcome any player who wants to suit it up for the Orange and Blue.

Please take my question in a Positive sense as I am most intrigued with his upside.

Academics is a determining factor...just like in high school he would excel where he wants to go and feel comfortable at. Plus going to help be apart of a turn around program. We were coming up right before the old staff was let go. My son thought they were going to offer. But we are gracious that the new staff are still in contact.

If it comes this late that means he didn't hold up his end of the bargain in his last high school semester and might very well not have the core classes to enroll anywhere. Juco most likely in that scenario.

It wasn't until I read Robert's "Spring Mail Bag II" post that I realized just how far behind we are on 2017 recruiting. I obviously have faith that this staff will be able to put together a respectable class still, but some of the numbers are eye-popping.

From the post (http://illiniboard.com/2016/04/20/spring-mailbag-ii-2/)
27 open scholarships. 1 commit. Big Ten commitments by school:
Ohio State 13
Michigan 11
Northwestern 10
Iowa 9
Wisconsin 8
Michigan State 6
Nebraska 6
Penn State 6
Maryland 6
Rutgers 5
Indiana 4
Minnesota 2
Illinois 1
Purdue 1

Yikes. Will need to get the ball rolling quickly.

Tough loss. Decently ranked player. Nice offer list. Hope we don't see him at Iowa.

Less than impressive tape . Sorry Ghost, barely made a 3 * for me based on the Rivals star and rating system I gave him a a 3* 5.5 as low as gets to still get that third star.:(

Crazy to see Lovie signing autographs for recruits.

Recruits are coming for visits just to meet him. It can't be a bad thing

Yeah if kids are that interested in just meeting him, you would have to think the pull of playing for him would be strong too.

They're not just playing for Lovie, they're playing for the other coaches too. They might love Lovie, but they have to get to know their position coach and coordinator. Plus for better recruits, they usually take more time to get. Be patient.

Oh I'm not expecting anything right away, but just think about the difference between Lovie and Becks when it comes to how appealing they are to kids. Night and day.

Very true. We have players visiting us that we didn't have a shot at. Now we're players for bigger recruits. That includes the Cali kids who I think we get OV's from

I think we get Vera-Tucker. Best lineman since O'Donnell

What's the exceptional pull to ILL that makes you think Vera- Tucker will come to ILL? Not trying to be a Debbie downer, just looked up his name and profile and wondering what am I missing? Has he come for a visit ?

Nickerson sent 20 or so kids to a D1 school while coaching at Bishop O'Dowd. He's well respected at BOD, and the state of California.
