How many scholarships are open for this class? How many of each position will this class have?
1 QB?
1-2 RB?
2-5 WR?
3-7 OL?
3-7 DL?
2-5 LB?
2-7 DB?

Ian Swenson DB from Loyola needs a look. Over 6' 200 pounds running 4.5's and built like a rock. Multiple offers including Louisville and Wisconsin on the prawl!

Pretty cool seeing my HS have a few legit D1 prospects finally year in and year out, Holecek is doing a great job there.

Looking at his Scout profile, he has offers from
Louisville, Wisconsin, Iowa, Michigan, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vanderbilt, Virginia.
They list Illinois, Louisville, & Wisconsin as the only ones with "Medium" interest and everyone else No interest.

Maybe we can get "recruiting revenge" on Iowa when Reggie Spearman flipped his commitment to Iowa a few years back.

TE from Chicago area.

Whitman for President !
As much as I admire Josh Whitman, there is no way I want the University of Illinois to lose him. Unless he decides to change the National colors from R/W/B to Orange and Blue.

Yes. He has some growing up to do, but he's a beast out there. He's a legitimate P5 DT

Are we talking year one or a year or two down the road? I wondered at his ranking with the nice offer list. Something seemed off.

Give him a year under Boese to get faster and stronger. If he does commit, and makes it on campus, he'll play from the get go out of need, but don't except too much right away. I would say his sophomore and junior year is where he could break out

So, is his rating lagging behind? Because a 2 star DT doesn't sound worth the trouble of his recruiting drama.

The media doesn't like him because he won't talk to them so they're being unfair to him. His offer list is Alabama, Ohio State, Texas, Wisconsin, Penn State, Michigan, etc. He's a 4 star on 247, 280th overall. 2 stars don't have his profile.

The offer list says it all.

Just watching the video from scout looks like he is huge and has some good technique/strength but looking at his body seems like he could really benefit from a college strength/conditioning program.

As I understand it, we now have a very good strength and conditioning program.
Our coaching staff may be able to "mature him up" as much as "coach him up."

That said, if he refuses to talk to the media, maybe he is mature beyond his years? :D

I coached against Harris in Iowa, I'd be shocked if he is playing football in 4 years. I am fairly certain he does not hold offers from Ohio State or Alabama.

Care to elaborate?

- He is pushing 400 pounds as a jr
- Very weak for his size
- Takes too many plays off
- Smaller guys are able to handle him in the 2nd half because he is not conditioned

You would expect a top D1 athlete to dominate competition in Iowa (2A) football. 2A football in Iowa is about the same as 2A-3A in terms of enrollment in Illinois.

He has potential to become a nice player at the college level, but I just don't see him putting it all together. I coached against Parker Hesse as well, and you could tell he was a D1 athlete.

Recent commentary lends itself to more positive reviews than you gave, just FWIW. As of June 3rd, he's listed at 360 at the Sound Mind Sound Body camp event up in Detroit and was noted as being the second best defensive player there (any position) by the 247 Football Scouting Director Steve Wiltfong.

NEXT FIVE DEFENSE

West Union (Iowa) North Fayette four-star defensive tackle and Iowa commit Juan Harris has dropped 40 pounds to get down to 360-pounds, and at that weight he moved better than any other defensive tackle through drills. Come 1-on-1s he was a complete mismatch whether he was exploding off the ball and shooting past the offensive lineman or setting him up for a beautiful spin move. I continue to believe Harris is one of the top defensive tackles in the country.

Here's some tweets from Wiltfong about Juan Harris (the first with a quick vine) from the last two weeks. He seems to be pretty highly viewed by national talent evaluators.

Maybe the combination of these reviews would lend us to an assessment that he is a decent floor, good upside project guy?

No telling how good (or bad) Harris can be. If he drops 20-30 lbs. and adds strength (should be a given), he could be a monster.

He will just have to deal with the reality check of getting handled by B1G linemen at first. Could make him realize he has to put in the work. Of course if he ends up dominating anyway, then it works out just as well because he will be a monster.
