DT Juan Harris has decommitted from Iowa: http://www.scout.com/player/189374-juan-harris

Would be a BIG TIME flip
Looking at his Scout profile, he has offers from
Louisville, Wisconsin, Iowa, Michigan, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vanderbilt, Virginia.
They list Illinois, Louisville, & Wisconsin as the only ones with "Medium" interest and everyone else No interest.
Maybe we can get "recruiting revenge" on Iowa when Reggie Spearman flipped his commitment to Iowa a few years back.
As much as I admire Josh Whitman, there is no way I want the University of Illinois to lose him. Unless he decides to change the National colors from R/W/B to Orange and Blue.Whitman for President !
That would be a massive flip. Perhaps the best player in our class.
So, is his rating lagging behind? Because a 2 star DT doesn't sound worth the trouble of his recruiting drama.
Yes. He has some growing up to do, but he's a beast out there. He's a legitimate P5 DT
Are we talking year one or a year or two down the road? I wondered at his ranking with the nice offer list. Something seemed off.

The media doesn't like him because he won't talk to them so they're being unfair to him. His offer list is Alabama, Ohio State, Texas, Wisconsin, Penn State, Michigan, etc. He's a 4 star on 247, 280th overall. 2 stars don't have his profile.

I coached against Harris in Iowa, I'd be shocked if he is playing football in 4 years. I am fairly certain he does not hold offers from Ohio State or Alabama.
Care to elaborate?
- He is pushing 400 pounds as a jr
- Very weak for his size
- Takes too many plays off
- Smaller guys are able to handle him in the 2nd half because he is not conditioned
You would expect a top D1 athlete to dominate competition in Iowa (2A) football. 2A football in Iowa is about the same as 2A-3A in terms of enrollment in Illinois.
He has potential to become a nice player at the college level, but I just don't see him putting it all together. I coached against Parker Hesse as well, and you could tell he was a D1 athlete.

NEXT FIVE DEFENSE
West Union (Iowa) North Fayette four-star defensive tackle and Iowa commit Juan Harris has dropped 40 pounds to get down to 360-pounds, and at that weight he moved better than any other defensive tackle through drills. Come 1-on-1s he was a complete mismatch whether he was exploding off the ball and shooting past the offensive lineman or setting him up for a beautiful spin move. I continue to believe Harris is one of the top defensive tackles in the country.
