This upcoming year will be BB toughest we are going to lose a lot of talent

The portal will be key
As I look at the starters on our 2022 roster, I would argue that one heck of a lot of them are returning in 2023 --- based solely upon "remaining eligibility":

OFFENSE:
RB - 2nd and 3rd string guys should return (both McCray and Love are more than competent)
WR/TE: - All returning
OL: 4 of top 6 guys returning
QB: Admittedly, I'm counting on a Tommy DeVito replacement here (I hope for better, but could Sitkowski be that guy -- maybe?)

DEFENSE:
Only Avery, S. Brown and Quan are out of eligibility. Spoon probably goes, too. (Darkangelo might have started late in the season, too, but we're deep at LB).

Special Teams:
PK, Punter and Snapper all return

That's a lot of returning talent, if things break our way with the NFL draft. But as you stated, the portal will still be extremely important to us each and every year!

I’m assuming Julian Pearl declares for the draft.

Ford and Marchese are gone next year.

Some other guys, key guys, may go too. And if they do, that unit is going to take a huge hit.

Lots of things to consider about Fickell/Rhule coming into the B1G. Recruiting wise, Fickell is a successful recruiter in the Chicago area. His footprint is a little different than Chryst so maybe it will easier to recruit in-state but outside of Chicago.

Rod 'Trey' Pierce getting CBs for UM as well. Seems like it's possible both in-state DTs just go from UW to UM unfortunately. Would be nice to land one

Also, Trieu (247) and an On3 guy seem to think J. Hill to Michigan as well

Cade Mcnamara would be a good qb fit if he transfers from mich. Obviously there’s more talented potential qb transfers, he just feels like a BB type qb option to go after but that’s all a matter if he transfers.
Been saying this since JJ replaced him early in the season. Cade would be an incredible talent add to this offense among other things. When he hits the portal I hope the staff makes a run at him.

Would be very disappointing if it ends this way especially on the DT side.

As recently as last week my Michigan alum buddy was talking about how Cade would be doing better right now and how much more accurate he'd be. Obviously JJ proved he is the present and future this weekend, so yeah Cade must be transferring.

I think he'd do pretty well here because his strengths seem to be exactly what we'd be asking for out of him in this offense. Brandon Peters just never fit what Rod Smith or Tony Peterson wanted to do. Frankly, if Brandon Peters transferred today into Bielema and Luhnney's system I bet he would have done a fair bit better. There's a difference between a guy who was third on Michigan's depth chart and the guy that beat OSU, won the conference and went to the CFP.

Maybe there are better fits out there for us this offseason. But I don't think we should be afraid of McNamara just because Peters was perhaps underwhelming.

No idea if the staff will be interested but some familiar names of past recruiting cycles:

I've got to think we wouldn't be interested here (unlike Lovett). Macon was running 4th string at Mizzou and struggling to accurately pass the ball. After Ford's ACL injury, he's had no luck cracking the Mizzou rotation. They've had a good DLine, so maybe there's some potential there, but seems like we'd want a more proven entity coming off the season we just had
