The caveat in this case might not be a bad one

Portal closes January 18th and opens up in May for 2 weeks. If Love stays, he could still leave in May if competition on the roster moves him down for example. Same instance BB could add some RB transfer portal help now or in May if he doesn't like what he sees on the roster. BB is very intelligent and knows how to work the system. Sort of like early signing period December 21st, than Patterson gone the next day, etc. Marketing and media stay more busy these days ;)
we can all safely assume BB gave his blessing on RW taking CPat, as long as it was kept 100% secret until after signing day was over

Can't wait to hear who the next QB will be. I'm fine with either Card or Altmyer. Card appears to be the best choice at the moment, but I think there's some chance that Altmyer could end up being even better than Card at some point in the future.

I’d be shocked if not every AD is already considering Title IX implications. IMO, the Reddit poster is on the wrong side here.

Outside entities are not beholden to Title IX requirements. If the money is raised a university, then you comply. I haven't seen any interpretations of collectives following or forced to follow Title IX for legal purposes.

Perhaps … unless you consider the fact that the ONLY reason any of these kids is getting paid is that they’re playing for the school.

There’s the letter of the law … but there’s also the intent.

Title IX is a federal civil rights law in the United States of America that was passed as part (Title IX) of the Education Amendments of 1972. It prohibits sex-based discrimination in any school or other education program that receives federal money

Seriously , while no one is arguing this is all about college athletics, there is nothing about Title IX that says other non school affiliated entities, be it pro sports themselves or collectives, must be required to pay everyone the same , be it by gender or by sport.

NIL simply gives players their rights to their name, image and likeness back to them to do as they see fit
The NCAA simply can no longer deem them ineligible to receive that money, and their is NO LIMIT on what that amount of money can be

There will be some females, in some sports (there already are) that make more money than most males.
Its a free market.

I'm not versed enough in the legalities of NIL money to know one way or another whether that's true. But, I promise you, if there isn't verbage regarding Title IX yet, it's coming. The smart ADs and Athletic Departments will already be planning for it. Iowa is smart in their decision.

I don't think the argument will be about how much one gender makes vs another (although that will come too). Rather, the school (Iowa in this instance) is saying they don't want to encourage groups raising money for only male sports.

Bingo. There is a reason that NIL took off, it was the path of least resistence to stem the PR landslide of finding ways to better compensate athletes. NIL provided that avenue without (a) taking money directly out of athletic department's pocketbooks, and (b) avoiding the Title IX scrutiny required by universities.

Trouble in iowa
Culture war balderdash hampering our competitors while the Guardians keep on humming?

You simply love to see it.

Civil wars are going to break out all over the landscape. It's a good moment to be Illinois' bootlicking, compliant fanbase.

So many of our disadvantages flip to advantages in this new paradigm.

This would be commendable to provide significantly more compensation for female athletes, but the collective doesn't have to do it for Title IX reasons.
