Man our linebacker room is getting stacked. Starting to see the kind of depth we need to have great and consistent success.
I realize this is probably not the correct thread for this, but since you brought this up...can anyone tell us where Shammond Cooper sits in the linebacker room? I think he's played some on special teams, but he just can't seem to crack the lineup for much playing time at linebacker. Everyone felt so happy to get him...same class as IW and we thought those two were the future. He's not entered the transfer portal so he must either feel good about his chances this fall, or he is really just in it for a great education at a great university.

It was said a month ago that those in the know think he just topped out early in high school with talent and ability. I too was hoping he would be a legit player at this level. Was hoping he would turn into a player like the Oklahoma linebacker Eric Striker.

Honored to be chosen.

Total dude alert. This is a kid that did not go to any football showcases, high school is not exactly in a football hotbed. High level baseball prospect who runs sub 6.3 60. Athleticism is real.

My goodness -- I've no idea what his ceiling is at Illinois, but his highlight tape is one of the most entertaining ones I've seen in a while.

Shout out to all my homies at the Lake in the Hills movie theater. Who wants some Steak & Shake?

The full name is Harry D. Jacobs High School aka the Harry D, and their colors are brown and gold (aka the ole' pee and poo), mascot is the Golden Eagles, and their helmets in my day were a knockoff of the Philadelphia Eagles with a big chunk of brown strewn across a yellow helmet.

As you can imagine, they were the target of a great many jokes at Fox Valley Conference sporting events.

dont know where else to put this

wow, I'm shocked

What a huge mistake by Tennessee. Your coaching staff should never try poaching athletes on other teams trying to convince them to portal to you via text messages... *shock/horror/disgust/outrage*

Just verbally tell your NIL group/boosters to do it and then claim ignorance to it like all the other P5 programs are doing to get them to portal to you "legally"... :)

I really dislike the portal/NIL era, but in fairness it's not like this aspect of it was all that much different than high school recruiting has been for decades. It's just expanded to enrolled athlete recruiting as well now. I do wonder how many different schools boosters on average a high end college talent gets contacted by with nudge-nudge wink-wink offers now with the new NIL system though. Has to be exhausting dealing with that quite frankly.
