not surprising, but wow, that will really change the transfer portal. If people think getting playing time now is hard, imagine adding more competition. 15 extra players doesn't sound like a lot, but if break it out by position, it seems more daunting for playing time:

OL: 3
WR: 2
RB: 2
TE: 1
DL: 3
LB: 2
DB: 2
yea, this idea makes no sense to me at all

Also known as the "rich get richer/anticompetition" rule.
yea, so they can bury a bunch of high 3* guys on the bench in the hopes they find the one or two diamonds in the rough.
Just to keep them all off the rosters of the teams normally ranked 11-35.
They dont care that most of those extra 15 guys will end up transferring out after a year or two.

I can't see programs really wanting to spend another $600k on scholarships for the 3rd string

You can double the $600,000 to provide for scholarships to women's sports. Of course, in the past, as often as not it meant the elimination of other men's sports.

I love the fact we are stacking 6.5 250lb TE's. Some of them make the best, mobile offensive lineman!

there are/were more than a few college football coaches that love/loved to recruit 6'6" athletic tight ends out of high school and then have them muscle up for two years and turn them into offensive tackles.

I think Bret likes to do this. Obviously not with all of them, but some of them .
The high school coaches just need ALL those tall thick guys at TE, and colleges dont, as they have enough .

He did this with a kid from Illinois while at Wisconsin. Kid I’m thinking of, if I remember correctly, was a 6-6 QB. Name escapes me now, but I think he turned out to be a significant contributor in his third and fourth years.

Edit: It was David Edwards. He was QB for Downers Grove North. 6-6, 215 coming out of HS. Appears he was at WI after BB left.

pretty sure his older brother (Mark ??) played safety for us and iirc, was also a qb at DGN
