Kind of surprised we'd take him. Seems like the TE room is full of unproven talent. Not sure we'd want to add another to that mix when scholarships are precious
I think Bret likes grabbing what he thinks are athletic / versatile high school tight ends and with some , then seeing if they can either turn them into tackles or some other position of value

I was surprised too. Which tells me a lot about how the staff views him.
Could also tell us how the staff feels about some of the “unproven talent” the OP mentioned. Maybe they don’t like how some are progressing or feel some of those there already might be better at new positions.

Educated lay-up - FL based DB will be next
Head- FL based not-DB committing soon
Gut/heart- 4* RB/ATH that play RB is committed with the week

Here are his HS numbers- 136 catches for 2,200 yards and 27 touchdowns. That also included the COVID years, which in CA severely affected high school sports. (Which looking back on probably helped us get him. Bigger numbers in HS could have resulted in offers from USC and UCLA.)
