makes you wonder why these kids go through a recruitment. Just set up an online auction and be done with it.Miami spends a lot on NIL in prep recruiting. Makes a lot of sense considering this was a last second close by them.

I heard Miami's NIL has its issues (see Jalen Rashada)hmmm ... LifeWallet that couldn't make its bond payments and had to negotiate to defer and "revealed in an April 14 filing that it had identified "material weaknesses in internal controls" in its accounting. The resulting errors were significant enough that the company told investors they could no longer rely on its financial statements ranging from June 30, 2022, to September 30, 2022." over promised purchase of receivables as scalable. Investors are not too happy with Ruiz spending their money on athletes when he cant pay bond interest. didn't think he would be allowed to continue signing LifeWallet deals
That was Florida. Rashada was once committed to Miami but flipped to Florida for a huge NIL deal that fell apart.I heard Miami's NIL has its issues (see Jalen Rashada)

Yeah I messed up on that one. That was Florida. Rashada was once committed to Miami but flipped to Florida for a huge NIL deal that fell apart.
So much for family being able to easily travel to his games
Kind of respect Miami for this.Makes a difference when they offer to move the family … Lot of jobs down there in Miami I hear …
Dupree/Valentine, just get oneHopefully we can find a way to flip him before signing day.
Until then….
Who’s next?
That’s crazy. I need more kidsMakes a difference when they offer to move the family … Lot of jobs down there in Miami I hear …
“NIL” is the new “$hady” (when we lose a recruiting battle)
As long as NIL isn’t being used as an “inducement” and it’s all above board now it’s fine. ~ NCAA 🫣Makes a difference when they offer to move the family … Lot of jobs down there in Miami I hear …
Which is why Brad Underwood will be juuuuuust fine.it’s pretty hard to recruit against a school that can offer the players six figure NIL deals .
yea, but this is a football threadWhich is why Brad Underwood will be juuuuuust fine.

one wonders just how sustainable the current rules are .
while I’m glad we didn’t lose him to OSU, I just don’t like the way NIL has evolved and dramatically changed recruiting .
I get it, but I have to interject against the "poor little Illinois" stuff whenever I see it.yea, but this is a football thread
This is spot on. One good season and a good draft is not going to change the minds of a lot of kids, especially the 4* and 5* kids. We need some sustained success to do that. This program has been mediocre or bad almost through its entire Big Ten history, save for a handful of seasons....four seasons of 9+ wins since the Big Ten became the Big Ten in 1953. A good, solid, committed coaching staff and some good, solid, committed kids coming in to build some sustained success and we will begin to win these battles. Like several have said...its a huge step to even be in the running with the blue bloods on some of these like Lightfoot. Let's win 8, 9, 10 games this year and go from there.Ok, time to stay positive guys. It sucks that we lost out on Lightfoot, but we still have done a very good job in recruiting, And when we have a couple of winning seasons in a row, we will these battles. Let's finish this class out strong.
Not going to happen!!Hopefully we can find a way to flip him before signing day.
Until then….

I don’t begrudge the players getting paid above the table - many always did secretly anywayI'm the exact opposite. I love this newest iteration of recruiting. I hope the players get even bigger deals. I love the "Don't listen to state rules" memo, too.
If they’re gonna go that far, are they gonna move him early? Let him play his last year of HS ball in one of the most competitive parts of the country?Makes a difference when they offer to move the family … Lot of jobs down there in Miami I hear …
What the hell are you talking abo...I get it, but I have to interject against the "poor little Illinois" stuff whenever I see it.
We're just spending a much higher portion of our heavyweight NIL kitty on the sport our donor community cares more about winning recruitments for.
Of course Miami is also spending plenty on Instagram model rotation players for its WBB team, but, y'know, Miami gonna Miami.
A couple things….If it were all above table, I’d be great with it. Obviously it’s not.I don’t begrudge the players getting paid above the table - many always did secretly anyway
but do you think this wild wild west is sustainable?
and if not , how does it get controlled ?
That sounds good in theory, but the execution of that always ends poorly. But they have made their bed....Makes a difference when they offer to move the family … Lot of jobs down there in Miami I hear …
I wonder what the full package they put together looks like. Probably pretty sweet. But I'd be wary of a deal with a U booster. South Florida has earned it's 'sunny place for shady people' reputation.Makes a difference when they offer to move the family … Lot of jobs down there in Miami I hear …
