I can't tell if you are being serious or not. There were several kids who were freshmen or redshirt freshmen. Quan Martin was horrid early in his career and look at him now.
We could use this kid on defense....
It's great the Illini were able to get this young man, but for him to play as a freshman interior lineman he'll need to put on at least 30lbs. And it will need to be some muscle, not just weight.

I was going to ask how many guards does this team need...... but Wigenton put up above average PFF grades as a redshirt sophomore. Good performance, connection to his high school, makes sense.

Witherspoon had a 57.8 coverage grade as a freshman.
2023 coverage grades for players who took their first snaps this year?
Miles Scott - 69.9
Zach Tobe - 59.1
Mac Resetich - 79.0
Saboor Karriem - 54.5
'22 Matt Bailey - 63.1
These guys aren't going to be Spoon. The point is freshman Spoon was mediocre.

Brennan Armstrong through for 405 yards.
The defensive coordinator was Ryan Walters. The secondary had Devon Witherspoon, Sydney Brown, Tony Adams, Quan Martin, and Kerby Joseph.
The next year, that same coordinator and those same players didn’t give up a touchdown at home until their 5th home game.
Players and coaches can improve.

There is not a coach in the country that is more connected to the Hun school than Andy Buh … Trust me …
That’s not saying every kid they’ve got is ours to lose but if we show interest in a kid … Trust and believe they’ll push kids our way as much as they possibly can … And that’s all because of Andy Buh …
Never met Coach Buh but seeing his picture makes me smile. Just looks like a really likable guy.
Now I just hope some of the guys from Hun start to contribute at Illinois.
Do you remember our Db’s who left in 2022 from their freshman and sophomore yrs? They are now in the NFL. They sucked early on also.

With Dennis committing, it's a clear that Turek will begin on D, right?
Both he and Odeluga looked terrible early in the year, but by the second half of the year appeared to have improved greatly. I don't know how much was them and how much was the type of team we played - UT and KS both had mobile QB's that made our LB's look like they were stuck in cement, whereas we played against much less mobile QB's later.
Wouldn’t be so sure about that yet … Both still on the table … Think they’ll rep him at both throughout spring …

Do you mean Gach? If he's truly 6'5" and 275 currently, putting on 30 lbs in the weight room should be a breeze if he's competently trained. With proper diet en route that should yield a marginal 24 lbs of muscle.
