UPDATE: This is actually the 6/21 visitor list.

In the lead up of the first, big June official visit weekend, here are the offer list numbers for each visitor (listed in order of most offers/most P4 offers/official visits):

Player - Ranking - Offers - P4 Offers - Competing Official Visits

WR Brayden Trimble - #526 - 13 - 11 - COMMITMENT ----- Notes: Wine and dine everyone else. His offer list is superior to everyone else besides Starr (this is a good thing)

DE Nicolas Clayton - #897 - 21 - 11 - Florida State, Nebraska, Tulane, UCF, Wisconsin ----- Notes: Lots of good offers. Official visit list is excellent.

RB Cedric Wyche - UNR - 21 - 12 - None ----- Notes: Offers might be inflated, inconsistency between timeline and overview. No other officials cast further doubt.

CB Robert Jones III - #734 - 23 - 12 - NC State, UCF ----- Notes: Lots of good offers, official visits are not as confident

DL Jayquan Stubbs - #559 - 13 - 7 - Wisconsin, Purdue ----- Notes: Ole fashioned B1G West face-off.

ATH Jershaun Newton - #631 - 14 - 10 - None ----- Notes: Offers might be inflated, inconsistency between timeline and overview. No other officials cast further doubt.

CB George Mullins - UNR - 17 - 4 - Mississippi State, Michigan State ----- Notes: Offers might be inflated, inconsistency between timeline and overview

DL Donta Simpson - #1002 - 12 - 5 - Maryland, Florida Atlantic, West Virginia ----- Notes: Offers might be inflated, inconsistency between timeline and overview

DL Derrick Simmons - UNR - 10 - 6 - Cincinnati, Boston College, Central Michigan ----- Notes: Lots of good offers, CMU visit might more of a courtesy?

Order of preference with me reading a little bit of the offer tea leaves (and ignoring Trimble since he's already a commitment): Stubbs, Clayton, Simmons, Mullins, [drop], Wyche, Newton, Jones III, Simpson

The fact that things are so quiet...And I mean SO QUIET...

about the Franklin recruitment just creates a feeling of mysteriousness filled with oddness and peculiarity.

There's pretty much no noise about where things stand currently - not on here, not on national media, not on Illinois media...

Hope we still got a decent shot...

The issue with Franklin is he needs to take classes during the summer

What’s amazing is the amount of talent has in the 2025 class considering all the players who have moved out of state. Carson Boyd, dj miller, sael reyes, Starr, Donovan olugbee. I’m sure I’m missing a few recruits too.

Boyd, miller and Reyes were all East St Louis kids. Imagine how good that team would’ve been if they all stayed home

I imagine how awesome it would be if the program was so good those kids would want to stay home.

Francis: really like this pickup. I've felt pretty darn good about our IOL for awhile now, but tackle was a bit suspect. Miller has done very well in shoring up our OL room
Quick feet, good use of hands of leverage from the film. Footwork needs a lot of development to play tackle but I like the potential

Hopefully the state keeps producing talent like this. 2026 and 2027 are also strong classes. Their are a lot of very good private coaches and youth football is also being played in the spring now plus 7on7.The commitment to football will never be like it is in the south but it has come a long way. Right now there are 3 different spring youth football leagues in the Chicagoland area.

Here is the list of 5/31 + 6/7 visitors (included commits as a measuring stick):

PlayerRankingOffersP4 OffersCompeting VisitsNotes
DE Nathaniel Marshall#342524Michigan, Alabama, MiamiMichigan commit. Has Illinois connections. Elite visits, elite prospect. NIL.
CB Donovan Starr#4693120North Carolina, Missouri, Clemson, AuburnElite visit list, very strong offer list.
CB Charles Bass#3082320ArkansasEast St. Louis kid. #7 ranked in-state recruit. Priority and litmus test. Very strong offer list.
QB Carson Boyd#661118None - ILLINOIS COMMITMENTHelium to his prospect ranking. Top QB priority for staff. Committed in January.
WR Carl Jenkins Jr.#5283017Louisville, Kansas, UCF, USFLots of offers, visits could mean desire to stay closer to home? Might actually be visiting on 6/15.
S Andre Lovett#7301610Arizona State - ILLINOIS COMMITMENTPriority for staff, committed in March. visiting Arizona St this weekend.
RB John Forster
#323
1813Wisconsin, West Virginia, RutgersNJ recruit, solid offer list.
DE Tyrone Burrus Jr.#469169Indiana, Michigan State, LouisvilleIllinois will be his first official visit 5/31.
WR Terry Shelton#631137Arizona, TCU, KansasOne of his few offers outside of the Southwest.
DE Cameron Brooks#110095Kansas, Kansas StateChicago recruit, crystal ball for Illinois. UI with first visit.
OL Griffin Rousseau#86632None - ILLINOIS COMMITMENTConnected to Illinois early on, committed in January.
DL Isaiah White#105796Washington, Louisville, Boston CollegeEclectic visit list. Illinois just offered seven weeks ago.

This is a really good list of official visitors and associated offers. Rousseau is the only one that sticks out but it's justifiable because of how early the staff was in on him. Ignore that Marshall has less offers than Starr - he could commit to every p4 program and it would be accepted.

Interesting. I wouldn't have guessed a TE would take one of the remaining precious spots. Arkin and Boyer must be pretty unimpressive and Guinn is young and inexperienced at the position

Arkin and Boyer are good blockers. I think the take is that they are lacking on the receiving end (separation? hands?). That left a lot riding on Rusk. Hence, this add. Minimally, good depth move.

Yes, and can take pressure off the young WR room (outside of Bryant & Beatty), especially if we can’t snag Franklin.

Might see more sets with Rusk and Goda together paired with Bryant and whoever emerges out of the young WR’s. Gotta have guys who can stretch the field so opposing teams don’t stack the box.

Having two te’s that are a threat will be huge in the red zone. Rusk will get moved all over the field

We had two scholarships remaining. The thought was that we would use one on DL (James) and the other on Franklin.

So...

this signals that we're out on Franklin?
