Supply and demand as well. I’d wager more guys exist that can LS than those who can kick.
This is what I was coming to say. I bet we have 10 guys on our roster who could long snap with a tiny bit of practice.

Not trying to minimize the skill to be a good long snapper, but it can be learned.

That’s what I don’t understand. It has to be that the schools either had crappy contracts, which I doubt, or they don’t want to go after the athletes. One case that rules the athlete has to honor the contract gets this sorted out. Who will do it first?
I’m not sure what you think NIL agreements have the power do? NIL agreements do not and cannot prevent a student athlete from transferring. It may void the agreement. But it’s not prevented.

Brunner is an All BIG guard and former 4 star. Hefty statement to claim he wouldn’t be an upgrade.
You referenced us taking 3 Wiscy DLine transfers last year. Taking one player vs 'raiding' a unit is a pretty easy distinction to make.

So, yes to a successful individual from a bad unit and no thank you to raiding a significant portion of a worse line, particularly when we can't trust the current staff to coach them up.

They are all afraid that they will never sign another player if they enforce a contract.

I wonder if a starting QB under agreement leaving a school like Washington mid portal period might be a clearer case of actually damaging the school than one of many DL prospects leaving UGA?

For every person complaining about college football, I give you Bielema's quote:

"This is the most fun I've ever had in coaching because you know you're on a more equal playing field ... Now you just come to work every day knowing that blue blood, red blood, orange blood, whatever, everybody's got a chance, man."

Here is where he says what was always true - prior to the NIL area, Illinois had NO chance. None. New world>Old world

desperately need dominant defensive linemen. Im satisfied with the portal pickups so far.

I agree, I saw over the weekend that we were expecting a visit from a Miami (Hurricane) player. But he has at least another game to play. How does that get worked out? Especially since he may or may not want to join our team. Do we hold a spot, just in case? I would think not, unless a deal has already been agreed to. It appears to be a HUGE disadvantage for players still in the playoff.

Is the skill required for a 7 yard snap accurately equal to or greater than the skill required to kick a ball 40+ yards accurately? 🧐
Possibly. Ive played center for 3 decades and cant long snap for my life.

Also, I played 3 years of D3. I should have eligibility.....think they would be willing to take a 38 year old 6'2" 310lb Center for 75k?

I have recent game film against random garbage men, forklift drivers, and security guards from all around the Midwest lol

Hopefully one or two could be our own guys (X, Tomiwa).
Getting X back would be huge - I think it makes a ton of sense for him to come back if he's not going to be 100% for the combine and pre-draft process and right now he's projected as a 5th rounder. If he comes back and is first team all big ten and plays like he's capable, he will improve his draft stock and get paid a lot more cash than he will on someone's practice squad in the NFL

Tomiwa back would be great as well given he brings some interior pass rush to the DL
