Obviously, you have never seen Smith play if your comparing his outside shooting ability to Lucas...put it this way if Lucas could shoot like Smith there would be no need for the Illini to bring Smith on board...smh...Lucas is a good player but to compare him to Smith is like comparing apples to bananas .... again Lucas is a good player not a Smith... Smith's versatility is what makes Smith so deadly:
his ability to handle it like a 5'10 guard and run a team,
knock down the open jumper (with unlimited range) like a 2 guard
his ability to finish at the basket like a 3 player with contact
but its all wrapped into one player....if you are a basketball person you would know that's why all these schools like him so well....not counting his (best asset) his overall basketball IQ...
I have not seen Smith play but he shot .376 in HS from 3 pt and Lucas shot .375 at UI. Lucas didn't shoot as much but that was not his role. Cannot understand why you think Smith is so much better at shooting. His size makes him a much bigger scoring threat but not necessarily a better shooter.
