Reclassifying is a messy process but I'm sure his school is willing work with him. It's not like he just decides that he wants to graduate a year early. If he was expecting to return for another year then he must be missing some graduation requirements. Maybe Normal is letting him take some credit recovery courses but those usually take a few weeks to complete but he'd need to be careful to do well if he's concerned about getting a certain score on the ACT/SAT.

How does Okoro attending prep schools in Tennessee, Mississippi and Las Vegas fit in all this??

This is likely to get edited out, but nah. Also it is an English spelling. I have spent time there and the "ou" made its way into my grammar when I was an undergrad at the U of I...go figure.

Oh, I don't know. I think he could be an English or British troll (of course, I have no idea why someone from there would troll an Illinois sports board), because in addition to the aforementioned English spelling of favorite, I also noticed he used a plural verb at least once for what we would use a singular verb, specifically "Illinois are" instead of "Illinois is". ;)

I know some people were wondering, the writing portion of the sat is not required. He also might have enough credits overall by this point from normal West that all he needs is his core credits in order from English/Science/SS/math.

Also the gpa/sat sliding scale for NCAA eligibility is based on core classes, not all classes. however, the NCAA core class gpa is not just based on the four core subjects, it is those plus defined electives.

I hope the counselors/admin at normal west are up on all this. The reason I know all this stuff is that the counselors/admin where I work are not, so I’ve been on top of this for our D1 pg this year. It’s a messy process for him and he’s not even reclassifying.

They would need to make sure that each place was awarding him the appropriate amount of credits in each move but at this point they should know that unless they ended up finding a mistake. Not saying that this is the case but a class could appear to be a core class in its name but might not be labelled as one by the NCAA, even it it's a core class in the school graduation requirements. In general, it'll never be an easy process when there are multiple moves because it increases the room for error. Private schools tend to make the most mistakes.

There is no doubt that we need to hire Oliver Antigua as video coordinator. He would have all this cleared up in short order.

Interesting regarding Miller that you failed to mention he played zhS hoops with both Da'Monte and Ayo. I kinda think that's a big pull for him.

I like our chances with Okoro, Miller and Whitney.
Liddell to a blue blood? Doubtful.

Okoro to a blue blood, but Oregon or Purdue will do? OK, I think we see where you're coming from on the pessimism highway.

I should have mentioned that i have been catching up on the posts for about a week now and my conclusions are basically based on a feeling or whatever of what people on this board have been saying about these three in terms of skill and how good they are, etc.

For instance on Liddell, although there hasn't been much interest yet from blue bloods others here have pointed out that they will come calling soon. So that is what I based that on. And I think he will be interested if they do.

As for Okoro didn't I say maybe a blue blood but more likely a school like MSU and Oregon or Purdue might fit that type of school, not quite a Blue Blood but at least recently closer than Illinois has been.

And as for Miller, well, I just think there is a lot of time yet and if the blue bloods do come sniffing around he is going to do what is best for him and that would likely be a blue blood.

On the other hand, I hadn't read all these more optimistic posts about Okoro (especially since Stumke post) so I take it all back. Just going with the flow. :D

I don't know about best class ever, but it would rival the class of Battle,Anderson and Liberty. Also it would put the Illini back in the conversation for Big Ten Champs.:thumb:
Battle was s transfer. I think Bruce Douglas and Efrem was pretty darn good. Mcdaa game mvp and B10 player of the year as a freshman in Douglas. I think the were both 1st team all Americans in high school in Street n Smith back in the day!
Played in the biggest crap ever in Kentucky at Rupp in the elite 8. That non call still bugs be to this day.

Wow what a turn of events an Okoro commitment could be. But I am a firm believer that he will be a 1 and done, which means we would still need a C in the '19 class.

I'm not worried about these big classes right now, but it does make things very awkward. The roster make-up makes it pretty obvious that there will be 2 or 3 more transfers next year.

I'm not convinced he's a one and done. Great player, but is 6'8". Good size, but not elite for a big man. Needs to have a great jumper.

Hopefully all we are hearing is true, Okoro to UI would be great. The trips he made to Oregon and PU, must been discovery events? We have been on him from the go, so staff has to be commended if all comes together. I f he has told staff he will commit, I would take that silent verbal in a heartbeat. Solid big with huge upside.

The Golden recruitment may have to take a back seat, I thought he had OV schedule, might have misread, but nevertheless, Okoro is number one priority.

Ayo is going to be huge for the top Chicago recruits in the coming years. I have this irrational fear that Trent will be so good that we have to keep the ball in his hands, and Ayo will struggle with shooting and foul trouble and fail to have the immediate star impact he was expecting. He gets discouraged and transfers, MIF blames BU, and that leaves us with back to back Mr. Basketballs transferring out.

Or Ayo could come in and tear it up, be a 1 or 2 and done, and UI becomes the place to be for Chicago recruits. Specifically MIF recruits. Am I over-exaggerating Ayo's potential impact?

Regardless, Miller is on another level from Okoro/Liddell/Whitney IMO. He has a chance to be a top 10 player and potentially the #1 PG in the class.

Hard to believe being ranked #1 in NY state. How many stars does 341 equate to?
This is one reason that after the first 25 or so who knows or cares once the season starts. The guys that are really good at tevaluating make 6 or 7 figures a year. Just look at Kendall Gill or other more recent examples. It's fun when they are very highly ranked but if not who cares what 247 thinks. After the top 15 or so it's a who really knows? The NCAA tournament and players coming out of no where show us each year how little that matters after a certain point I bet Griffin does well eventually. Let's just not expect too much from all our recruits too soon. I just hope one or two players surprise close to what TF did this year.

Questions: Is Okoro a starter this year?
Does he start at C instead of Ebo?
Do he and Ebo play together and Kipper moves to 3?

He is getting rave reviews but is he better than Ebo, Kane and GBez right now, particularly if the others come in June and he comes in Sept?

Why exactly does this board keep running with the number #1 player in NY thing for Griffin? Wasn't that by some guy that is not nearly as well regarded as Rivals/ESPN/247? 247 just put him as the #9 player in the state and a 3star. I'll use that ranking as the most accurate and most up to date.

Yes, he starts. Yes, he is better than all 3 right now.

He is good, but Okoro will need to get into the system, I doubt he would be ready day 1. Maybe middle or later, but he would be a 4, maybe a 5 for spots. Still think Ebo will surprise us all, he is a soccer player too. ;):illinois:
