I like that McKinley Wright tape. Obviously it's a highlight but he makes a lot of plays in that one. He finds that big guy a lot.

Well it is the last day of Spring signing period plus last day before a relatively long 9 day dead period. Moore does want to get enrolled in Summer school, right?? :)

The last word was that Moore wouldn't be signing a LOI this time around, although that may have changed.

Hopefully we get a visit, though.

Technically, you don't have to sign a LOI, correct? He could just enroll and sign his financial papers, like early entry football players.

2016 NIKE EYBL SESSION 3 VIRGINIA - DAY 3 RECAP

TOP PERFORMERS

Theo John – 2017 – PF – Howard Pulley
He’s not a big scorer at this level, but John is a tough, physical interior presence that does the dirty work for Howard Pulley. He’s already 6-foot-9 and 220-pounds, but John plays even bigger. A long, extremely strong big man, John is an excellent rim protector and post defender. A strong finisher inside, John excited some with his back-to-the-basket and showcased some intriguing post moves and a mid-range game he hasn’t shown much of. John had 14 points on 7-of-8 shooting, seven rebounds, and two blocks in a win over King James on Sunday.

Kyle Young – 2017 – F – King James
Young’s versatility is the key to his game. A 6-foot-9 stretch forward, Young can score inside and out. He shot the ball well from three-point range and is a nice weapon in the pick n’ roll game. Young can also play with his back to the basket and slash from the high post. He had a double-double on Sunday, registering 17 points and 13 rebounds in a loss to Howard Pulley. Young knocked down two of his four attempts from three-point range. In the midst of a big spring, Young also displayed more aggressiveness going towards the hoop and on the glass. Rebounding and blocking shots aren’t his specialties, but it was nice to see the effort in those areas.

Talk about leading the witness...Illinois would not have been brought up if not for Burgess, and then the kid says "I don't really know much about Illinois except what you were telling me..."

While recruiters are focused on Chicago and central Illinois, perhaps they should take a look at downstate products. There is one player in southern Illinois that is garnering Big Ten interest, and I feel like Illinois should look at him. Viewing these highlights, you have to admire his inside-outside game.

Carpenter is 6-9 and can add bulk. He reminds me of Michael Finke somewhat. I wouldn't mind adding a MF 2.0 to the team. Let him redshirt a year to improve his skills and his game.

I'll also add that Carpenter plays in the Big 8 Conference. The league has produced basketball standouts such as Tyler and Cody Zeller, and Tyra Buss.

Sorry, but women's bball is a different animal, which just leaves the Zeller family.

I never realized that there was an Illinois team who played in an Indiana conference.

I like Theo John's game from what I've seen on tape. I know there have been some underwhelming stat lines but once again I rely on what I see. He seems like he can be a James Augustine type player and I would gladlly take two Augustines as my bigs in the 17' class. If we can land Tilmon and John I think we solidfy our big situation for that class.

Didn't the Zellers both play in Indiana?

Yes, that is what he is saying. Tyra Buss played for Mt. Carmel IL (not the Chicago one but the southern Illinois one). Mt. Carmel Il. plays in an Indiana conference.

When the old North Egypt Conference broke up, Mount Carmel, IL. joined the Big 8. Some of the Indiana teams are Vincennes, Princeton, Jasper, Mt. Vernon, IN. and Washington. Washington won multiple Indiana state basketball championships when the Zellers were in high school. As for Justin Carpenter, I would say that he is maybe a mid major prospect. I think I read that Evansville is looking at him.
