I prefer another big man, we are too thin at that position. I feel that DWilliams is our 2nd PG and JCL could provide minutes as well. Verge has too many questions.

2nd one. Not close.

Agreed.

Lewis is a 3 that could be a 4. Why Gilyard? With TJL and DMW, we're set. '18 is going to be a small class. Finke and a couple of bigs are the Plan A guys. Ramey too, but he's a longshot, and we don't have a pressing need for points in '18. Gilyard is very good, but Ramey is better.

I only know Finke past the 2017 group... Who is Ramey?

I wonder if we'll ever get a commit via this kind of announcement?

Now everyone on here knows that if Tilmon or Goodwin were to make their commitment this way y'all would be gushing about how professional the video was done and how well thought out it was and how well spoken they are LOL.

But seriously, yeah it was pretty cheesy :D

Kevin Easley – 2018 – PF – George Hill Rising Stars
Easley was an imposing shot blocking presence for George Hill Rising Stars in their win over Yanders Law on Saturday. Easley can also stretch the floor with his three-point shooting, which catches defenders off guard to see a bruising 210-pound forward to shoot like a guard. Active on both ends of the floor, Easley scored a game-high 25 points in the victory.

Kevin Easley has offers from Purdue, Indiana, Temple, Butler, Cincinnati, Xavier, St. Louis, and others. He listed Michigan, Michigan State, Maryland, Illinois, and Ohio State as schools currently interested.

This also includes blurbs on other recruits (Verge, Eastern, and Kyle Young)

Well, if they picked us it would be professional, if they picked someone else, it would be cheesy. LOL...

1 Verge
CG Williams
2 Goodwin
3 Pickett
4 Negron
5 Tilmon

Or

1 Gilyard
CG Williams
2 Goodwin
3 Pickett
2/3 Lewis
5 Tilmon

Which would rather have?

Second one, based on my preference for Lewis over Negron, and the fact that I just love Gilyard as a competitor. Plus I have a hard time seeing Verge landing at Illinois. I hate to speculate too much about a kid's academic standing, but it just doesn't feel likely to me that he'll be able to get all his ducks in a row and qualify. Hope I'm wrong.

Sad to hear about Tilmon's injury. Is there any chance blue bloods would "send signals" about the "commitability" of their offers with the recent injury. ....Looking for a silver lining to the cloud...

I'm not sure if the blue bloods would do that, i guess it's possible.. they would probably just stop contacting him if that's how they really felt. They already know who he's leaning towards. And if all the smoke on here and twitter is true, then I don't see the injury stopping him from committing in the near future. That's my positive outlook on it anyways!

Not a big fan of Negron and Gilyard. I have watched both quite a few times. They may end up good players in college if they improve, but that can really be said for any HS player. Gilyard is very erratic in his play. Verge, I have seen a lot less, is talented but a huge question mark on and off the court. Lewis could be a solid player, but have not seen much.

I still believe we should see more players surfacing at PG, C, PF as recruiting goes into the summer. I have a feeling there will be many new names added to list that we have not heard of yet.

What is wrong with the world that someone goes through this much effort for this announcement? Our sensibilities are even more wacked out of proportion than I feared. :tsk:

Wow, I want to barf. A video to announce a decision is a clever idea. Making it a 30 for 30 documentary, produced by your own family, just feels gross.

2. I can see Lewis being a handful and as good as Verge may be, he's starting to sound like Lovett and if there are any character concerns, I think you go elsewhere.

Also, I'm choosing to read too much into the fact that Tilmon liked one of my tweets and he hasn't liked tweets from other fan bases recently.

Lewis is 6'5" 170 lb - I don't think he's a 4

WRT Verge, there are character concerns. There may be academic concerns. The kid is a high major talent, no doubt. But we have a '16 and '17 point guard, so I highly doubt we're pursuing him. And, no, I don't think he has a commit-able offer.

I've been told by a couple people that Illinois leads for Negron at this point. With the other offers out and how his ranking has dropped, I wonder if the staff would accept a commitment.

I wouldn't be surprised if he's actually 6'5 but that height and weight is outdated by a year, which is too loo long to be accurate when it comes to 16/17 year olds. A lot of people are reporting that he's 6'6" now. Another inch or so and he could definitely play small ball 4. His reach and wingspan is more important anyway, in addition to how much mass he adds in the next 20 months before he even plays a college game. I think that's why the original poster said "could".

Does anyone know what AAU team ICL is going to play for. Would like to see him run some point.

My guess is no, the offer is non-commitable. I think Negron is a plan B or C guy.
