I mean... the guy has been injured. Just a run of bad luck. And now it's midway through the season so he's got a long way to gain the staff's confidence.
I hope he gives it more one more whirl. Obviously it's not like the coaches have just chosen to not play him (mostly), but I could still see him looking at Coleman, Giorgi, possibly Kofi, and wondering where he'd be able to fit in.

I think he will, Illini have given him a great education so far and he hasn't really played, what is his market after being hurt for 2 years plus he is used to the system and we're good.

Is he going to be a 3rd year freshman next year????

They are being very careful with him because they thought they brought him back too fast last year, but I hear that he is practicing very well right now. Chance to help next year.
Combes, can you specify whether you are talking about BBV or Hutch??

BBV has potential to be a very solid player for us, no need to rush him back this year until he's 100%.

You could be right, but I really think Kofi will be in the NBA. He simply has way to much size for some team to not want to put him on their D league team. Hawkins really intrigued me as I think he is sort of like a Mike Davis type player who could really develop for us.

I wish I had any confidence I. BBV, but if he can’t get on the floor after 2 years when?
Wow.

Coleman Hawkins isn't like Mike Davis at. all. Davis never attempted a three-pointer in his entire Illinois tenure. Hawkins has already shown that range. Davis was and probably still is crazy athletic. Hawkins is nowhere near that fleet of foot nor does he have that kind of rise. Davis couldn't guard a chair. Hawkins has already shown flashes of being an elite defender in this league. Hawkins also has an incredible feel for passing that Davis definitely did not.

Yeah, he can really stroke it. Thing is, he's bringing more than just outside shooting. Really liking how he's progressed since his junior year. We're getting a good one.

Addendum: love that Goode is the antithesis of a chucker. Love his hoops IQ and that he's a gym rat.

Thank you. I've seen the Mike Davis comp on here numerous times and thought I must have been losing my memory. About the only similarity I see in them is they are about the same height. I almost posted this Loyalty After Dark style last night but wanted to make sure it wasn't just the whiskey talking.

I agree. From that era he is closer to Bill Cole than Mike Davis. Let's hope Hawkins has a better career than Bill Cole.

He's really just another inexperienced FR at this point (even tho he's in year 2). He's not going to get any minutes unless we have a couple of injuries (knock on wood) or 2-3 key Covid cases impacting our current Top 9 guys in the rotation.

Thicker than I expected, in a good way.
