Was there a reference somewhere in the last few pages that Lewis and TJL are friends? Or was that just speculation because they are both from Milwaukee?

Blessed to receive Co-Player of the year in The Milwaukee City Conference with My Bro @lewis24Terrence despite the injury !!! ðŸ￾€ðŸ￾€ðŸ￾€

Lewis could be a perfect candidate to redshirt with the big class we have in 17. No way that all players in 17 will get playing time and it would be best for some balance and player improvement to have a player or two redshirt. With his skill set and an extra year of development he could be a beast.

Exactly. Get another year of separation from AJ & DJW. 'Course, he has to be willing to redshirt. FWIW, I think it would serve him well.

on the other hand,if he is good friends with TJL then he will probably want to play 3 years with him.

Man this kid looks pretty good. Not sure where he fits in on the scholarship grid, but he looks like he can play. I'd be interested to see some tape outside of summer ball.

I'd say if you get Lewis, Pickett is the one who you would want to redshirt.

That's what I was thinking. In the end, it would be the wing struggling the most defensively and right now, Lewis seems like the better defender. Of course, this is if he commits. I'd be surprised if he committed when he hasn't really visited any other decent schools yet.

Here's what I've dug up on Terrence Lewis:

-Averaged 22 points and 9.9 rebounds per game for Milwaukee Riverside, which finished 22-4 and was highly ranked in the state all year (#2 for most of the season)
-Shot 63/121 from 3-point range (52 percent, 2.4 made 3pt/game)
-Averaged 1.8 steals and 1.3 blocks; shot 79% from the free throw line
-1st Team All-State as a Junior (Honorable Mention as a Sophomore)
-Milwaukee co-POY
-Terrence's father, Tyrone Lewis, is the coach of Riverside
-Plays AAU for Playground Elite

In an AAU event recap from last June, Scout described him as having an "elite motor" with "long arms and high level athleticism." If all that is true and he's a legit 6'6 with a G/VG outside shot, he'll end up ranked a lot higher than #100 (current 247 composite). Those are top-50 traits.

It sounds like going into last summer the biggest question with Lewis was his jump shot. Apparently, he showed improvement in that area on the AAU circuit and then shot extremely well all high school season. He's also grown from 6'4 to 6'6 over the last year. My guess is that one of two things could happen over the next 12 months: he could top out at 6'6 and prove to be a streaky shooter against high-level competition, which means he'd probably give us another Aaron Jordan (not a bad thing and definitely worth the scholly, IMO) OR he could prove to be a deadeye outside shooter, grow into his body a little more, and maybe top out at 6'7. In that case, he's probably a top-50 guy and a day one difference maker. The big thing to look for is how his shooting holds up at national events this spring/summer.
Ok fat greg I'm definitely sold....Terrence has good height and frame, and may continue to grow, good offensive skills, great motor, nose for ball (rebounder) and has a dad as a coach (likely indicates better than avg BB IQ),....sign me up please...

I'm not sure why people are on commitment watch. I'd say there are very low odds he so charmed today that he commits before leaving.

Regarding the recruitment of "wings" and some people's fear of having too many: A team can have up to 8 on scholarship out of the 13 especially if they are long and athletic like DJW, AJ, Kipper, Javon and Terrence.

A team should have at least 2 PGs and 3 Bigs on scholarship at all time which leaves up to 8 "wings" I define wings as being able to play the 2, 3 and 4 (small ball) positions.

You take elite shooters like JCL whenever you can get them and winners like Jordan Goodwin as well regardless of size.

The class of '17 has room for Terrence Lewis and the fact he is a coach's son makes him even more valuable imho. We can still add Goodwin and 2 Bigs (if Tilmon is one of them, Illini hoops will be downright nasty!)

Agree. Nichols and DJW should be able to adequately cover the 4 defensively by the time he gets to campus. Sign me up for an athletic team that can get up and down the floor.

I'm not saying that I'm expecting a commitment, but it wouldn't surprise me at all either. There have been some posters who had heard rumblings of a "surprise" recruit that may be in the mix for 2017. Seems like that was Lewis. That would lead me to believe that he has been in pretty regular contact with Groce and/or his lead recruiter and the other guys who either have committed here already or are considering it. Depending on how long those conversations have been going on, he may already be sold on the program and just wants to see the campus and facilities before he pulls the trigger.

WINGS
JCL jr
AJ jr
DJW jr
Kipper RS so
Pickett fr
Lewis fr
Goodwin fr

POINTS
TJL so
DaMonte fr

BIGS
Tilmon fr
Finke RS jr
Black RS jr

IFF we somehow grab the class we are all hopeful for, this is what the roster would look like. I don't know what ppl are complaining about. That's only 12 players, room to go get another player as an immediately eligible transfer to fill in wherever we feel the most depth is needed (probably pg IMO, considering a few of those wings could play PF, and all of the bigs could play C for stretches)

The scary part is there are no seniors, think about how good the next year's team could be with no attrition...

Add another big and we're rolling. Yes, we'll have a glut of wings. So what?

Add Tim Finke in '18.

Some people get too stuck on ideal projected positions as if this were the NBA. Hell, would anyone have a problem recruiting a Hill clone if he were in the 2017 class? No, you would take him and play him at the 4 if you have to even if his ideal position is at the 3.

I think many people are skeptical of playing 4 guard lineups after watching Malcolm Hill be that 4th guard for the past 2 years. Ideally, you want the 4th guard to be long and athletic to compete on defense/rebounding. Hill has neither of those traits. DJW and/or Kipper will be much better at that position and it looks like Pickett/Lewis should be too.
