Central won by 18. Tim can shoot some. He hit a few threes with some coming off of a screen and on a catch shoot during ball rotation. He didn't force anything and was content to pass it if he didn't have a good look. He played with a good motor even when up by double digits late in the 4th quarter. He also got his share of rebounds and had at least 3 blocked shots. He also had a few steals as well. I figured he would have made more free throws, though. He shot maybe 60-70% from the line.
How did Effingham's Grant Wolfe do? I've seen him play a few times this season and he's their best player...and the real deal at that as he is averaging over 20 points per game. In case you are wondering, he has already eclipsed the 1,000 point mark.

If he doesn't get recruited by a college, I would be shocked. He's only been a handful of players this season that really wowed me.

If I have a night off next week, I'll be watching Champaign Central in Taylorville. Would like to watch both Finke's in person.

He had at least 25, I think. He's definitely a good little player.

I thought I'd read here that he's not a good run-jump athlete?? He sure looked explosive on that play. Though his arms are so long that he doesn't need to jump that high to throw it down. Still, he got off the ground very quick.

Should I be reading anything in the orange tinge in Tilmon's hair? I know KL, KN and TA had done that this season. Not sure if that is an Illinois specific thing or if it is more common across the land.

My orange Kool-Aid make me all delirious thinking that is his subtle way of saying he will be an Illini.

For all the college bball I have watched this season, this style looks to be the new rage for whatever reason this season

I am incredibly excited about the noise around 2017 with the likes of Tilmon and Goodwin on top of the 2 solid commits we already have, and I'm optimistic about Groce's chances...

But I am going to temper my expectations a bit and put myself in their shoes: if I'm the kind of player who will have no shortage of power 5 offers, maybe even some blue-bloods in the mix, I am not signing until the last possible day I can sign to ensure:
A) The Illini team can put together a solid season in 2016 and make the tournament/meet expectations, and
B) The coach I'm committing to is going to be there when 2017 rolls around.

I know some kids commit to the school as much as they do the coach (maybe Williams fits that category) but unless I know the coach I'm committing to is for sure going to be there, I'd be an idiot not to at least have the option of committing to the likes of UNC, Kansas, IU, and who knows what other options I'd have by the time this summer is over.

Still hoping for the best, I-L-L!!

Wolfe was terrific. He was the leading scorer in the game with 25. He is just a hard nosed kid. Lacking size, but will make somebody a good little point guard.

I'm good friends with Grant Wolfe's family and he is the real deal. I hope we keep tabs on him as he is going to make some noise somewhere.

I'm from the metro east area and have seen Pickett, Goodwin, and Hill play several, if not most, of their high school games, IMO, Pickett's game is very similar to Malcolm's at East. Neither are great shooters, but they can knock down open looks. Neither are exceptional athletes, but they can both dunk in the open court when they have momentum going towards the rim. They are both hard nosed kids that create contact and score a majority of their points from the FT line. They both have a solid mid range game. I think Malcolm was better at this point in their careers than Javon, but there are overwhelming similarities in their games.

I agree with most of this. I do think Pickett is a little more of an athletic player than Malcolm was at this point. Quicker in the open court as well. I also think Malcolm is/was the better shooter of the 2. They do both do a lot of damage at the foul line and love creating contact. I really hope Pickett has a big senior season like Malcolm. I remember people not really knowing a lot about Malcolm in the Chicago area then he had a huge senior year and got some votes for Mr. Basketball. Obviously that year Mr. Baskeball was Jabari Parker's but Malcolm got some second and third place votes that were all the product of him having an outstanding senior season. I really hope Pickett has the same type of season and hope East can make a longer run next year than they did in Malcolm's SR season when they were upset in the 1st round of the regionals.
