I say Monday, it it is not a dead period, Jamal takes Lovie and JG down to the Stag city and offer Goodwin a home as a tight end/small forward for four years.

This would have been fine when I was in school and we won like 2 conference fb games in 4 years, but we are now hoping our football team to be playing in late dec/ early jan. Will need goodwin on the court before conference play starts, lol

Both Nick and Tim Finke will be playing at the Taylorville Sectional tonight as they will take on Lanphier. I'll be there.

That Manual vs Bloomington game should be a great one. Bloomington won by 12 in the last game of the regular season. Miketherevelator, you're usually pretty good at finding streams for games. Any stream for that one, or any other IHSA games? I seem to recall a handful of games getting streamed once we get to this stage in the playoffs.

NFHS.com usually has a stream but I think you have to have an account

You're right. Select games are on here http://www.nfhsnetwork.com/associations/ihsa
including the last two Manual games and Friday nights PM-Bloomington game. However it costs 9.99 for a 24 hour pass to view non state final games. Those are on for free, which means this weekend's 1A and 2A Friday and Saturday games will be on and next weekends 3A and 4A Friday and Saturday games. Unfortunately, Friday nights sectional championship games will be pay only.
There are fewer and fewer games on The Cube as the tournament progresses, in fact there were only 3 games on Tuesday night and no games tonight. Not sure about Friday night games. You can check here, none are scheduled as of yet.

Is Illinois looking at Leroy's Matt Chastain?

I heard them talking about him yesterday on Tay and J. Apparently he has a bunch of offers coming in, including Utah. 6'6, freak athlete, can shoot. Illinois State just offered.

Per game stats from News Gazette as of January-
27.5 points, 8.5 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 2.8 steals and 2.4 blocks

Between AJ, DJW, Nichols, and Pickett, not sure how much need we have at the 2-3, but if he's good enough for Utah and in our backyard, we'd be crazy not to take a look.

Keep in mind that those stats are from 1a. There's absolutely no need for a wing, especially one that's a gamble, in the 2016 class.

Chastain is a player. Have seen him a handful of times. Everyone assumed he would attend a good mid-major but interest is on the rise. Also agree that he wouldn't be filling a position of need.

Not suggesting that it's a good idea to take him, just saying that it's crazy not to at least take a look. If he's blowing up now and would happily come to UI, you look.

He plays at the school where my youngest daughter teaches. I have seen him play. Good player. Hard to totally judge due to competition level. I don't see him as a "freak athlete." Skilled. Not sure he is Big Ten level, but I could be wrong. I didn't think Brian Cardinal was BT level, either, so there's that.

Yes you do. I remember everyone saying the same things about the Peters kid from Washington a few years back and look at the numbers he has put up at Valpo this year. Happ is another example.

I can actually see Chastain going north to Wisky and being a typical Wisky shooter and scorer especially since they have scholly's to give.

Yeah he's not a freak athlete but I've only seen him play once. Not anymore athletic than Pickett and Pickett is putting similar numbers against much, much better competition. To be honest, a 1A player with that size should be getting more rebounds and blocks. I'd agree that they should look at him(because it doesn't hurt), but there's not much to see from Illinois' perspective. Nothing against him, we just need bigs, period.

Either way, he'll play at a high major and that's awesome when you come from a small town like Le Roy.

To the post above: Washington and Rock Island High School are like 10 times bigger than Le Roy. This even smaller than what Meyers Leonard came from.

Just curious. I don't actually care much where he lands, other than would rather not see him at Utah.

Yet the player that comes from our smallest school is the one in the NBA.

Who is to say that if Chastain had 3A and 4A teammates that it wouldn't make him a whole lot better? I watched Tim Finke the other night and quite frankly the other players on his team and the other team weren't a any better than some of the 1A and 2A teams in the area. Doesn't make Tim Finke any less of a player though.

Chastain reminds me a little of Kaufman when he was in high school. Just a scorer pure and simple. Andy wasn't a freak athlete either.

It doesn't mean that he won't be a great player, but the odds are against him. Anthony Johnson was a similar player at Oblong, also 1A. A completely dominant player that averaged about 25 points and 10 rebounds a game, and now he's at EIU averaging less than 1 pt and 1 rebound. Some teams can take such a gamble, Illinois is not in that position. If Illinois took another wing, he would need to be an elite defender or rebounder. Again, this is nothing against him. I would consider taking him if we didn't have a ton of wings already.

LeRoy's super was one of the few games on the Cube Tuesday night and I checked out Chastain since Henricksen has been raving about him lately and he's picked up almost 10 offers just in the last week. Very impressed with how smooth the kid is and he just doesn't miss -- from anywhere. He'd fit in the Pac-12 or MVC very well.
