Ah, now you got me watching Illinois - Duke highlights from Cameron in 1995 on YouTube. What a great game. Garris, Hester, Keane, Gee, Notree, Gandy, Turner... Brett Robisch! And against Caple, Wojo, Collins. Good to beat those guys, and break the 95-game non-conference streak.

I remember that game, too, it was a good one. I see Pickett got 24 pts and 12rebounds tonight against E St Louis. He'll be fun to watch in the years ahead.

Here's a question for someone who has actually seen Tilmon play. What is it that makes him a 5 star player?I seen his freshman and sophomore stats on a site and they were far from eye popping, around 9 points a game and 7 rebounds. Is this another ranking based on potential instead of actual results? Not putting the kid down or anything just wondering why he's so highly ranked.

For me it's his footwork, hands, and he doesn't shy away from contact. When he was at ESL he didn't get as many touches as you would expect and when he did there's a double or triple team. Skal at Kentucky is having trouble adjusting, because coming in he was a guy that couldn't handle contact.

Guys, I have some information regarding Goodwin. I'm not claiming to be an insider and this is the first time I've ever had info regarding a recruit. I'll go ahead and share everything i have. My old sports editor from my high school years currently lives in the O'fallon/Belleville area, so I thought I would ask if he's watched Goodwin play. His exact reply when I asked was "Yeah, he's the real deal. He's going to Illinois." I told him I sure hoped he was right. I just figured he was assuming he would pick the Illini. The next the he said to me was that Goodwin actually told him Illinois and SLU are the only choices. I had to be at work and that is all the info I have to pass along as of now. Have a good day and Go ILLINI!

How long ago did this guy get this information, in the most recent article Goodwin says, “Right now I have Illinois, Creighton, Missouri, Kansas State, Iowa, and Indiana,”. “I’m going to take some visits after the season”. Just curious when he obtained this information as SLU isn't even listed.

Longtime lurker, first time poster. I believe that is older information because I heard that quote right when Goodwin received the Illinois offer. Rumor around Belleville is that Goodwin was really excited about the Indy offer. It also sounds like he will wait until after the Eagles season to make any decisions, so hopefully the big schools stay away and don't come in at the end.

All of that changes if Illinois can get Tilmon to commit first.

I watched Tilmon play his freshman and Soph year. He was more impressive on defense than offense. Most of his points were dunks or putbacks. But watch his latest highlight reel and you will be a believer. His offense has taken a huge step forward.

I saw him play several times this past summer with the Eagles. Completely agree with you, his offensive productivity has improved immensely the last 9 months. He was once a rim protector/rebounder, but he is turning in to an all around big man. This is a bold statement, but he would probably start right now at Illinois.

Fully expect Tilmon to commit to UNC.

I'm afraid that is what will happen, and the fact that Goodwin supposedly likes the IU offer so much is concerning. He has said he likes that they've put players in the league and IU will probably put a couple more in this year. All of this in addition to the fact that Indiana won the Big Ten and everyone is singing Crean's praises seems like a bad situation for us.

Or Groce has lined these three guys up to commit at halftime each of the last three regular season games to ease the pain of this unfortunate season! :chief:

Over Mav...say it ain't so.

Hopefully Roy retires after this season like he's been rumored to do. That only helps us with Tilmon that much more

When the Hoosiers inevitably crash out of the tournament, people will get back to hating him. :thumb:

We're still in good shape with Tilmon and Goodwin. Also 2018 rivals rankings will be out tomorrow, and 2018 target Tim Finke going to be looking good. 35 ish. Another top priority target. Gonna be a fun ride!

I'm already a believer. The kid is a stud and was even as a sophomore.

But we are probably in worse shape with them than we were a couple months ago, right? I hope to get them both but hope Groce has a backup plan for a big in 2017.

Somebody wake me when we get to the fun part. Hopefully this is one of those "one day we'll all look back on it and laugh" seasons... hopefully.

Thanks for sharing. I heard the exact same thing from someone who talked directly to Jordan(less than a week ago). The kid is very close to his family and doesn't want to be in school far away from home. SLU is a player in this recruitment. He wants to go somewhere close to home where he can play early in his career. I am far from an insider just know someone close to his family and wanted to share as I saw some folks doubting the validity of this post. People can do the same to me I am not trying to gain any insider status just wanted to share what I heard earlier today. Hopefully he chooses the orange and blue:illinois:
