Williams has 4 points at halftime, several assists. Got stuffed by Rako on his first shot attempt and has been a little shy about going inside since. Still, looks better than yesterday effort-wise.

He through that really nice pass under the basket that his teammate couldnt catch. Had he caught it and converted the lay up, it would have made a nice highlight. Looked like pops on that one.

Geez, Chastain looks awfully good. For some reason the previous discussion suggested that he was skilled but not a great athlete. We don't see his lateral quickness in the video and he doesn't show elite ability to change directions on balance but his top speed, leaping, reaction time, and overall sense of balance look NBA-level.

I like his jumper a lot too. Very consistent form, even when shooting off the dribble. His leg extension is going to draw a lot of fouls. A very crisp jumper is a good sign about a player's work ethic too.

Granted I know very little about him, but I would support offering him.

He's looked better. Rakocevic is a tough match up for him. I like Williams' game , but those thinking he will be as good as dad may be disappointed. Frank's floor game was exceptional.

Please help: I just watched a highlight reel for the Chastain kid from Leroy, and I don't understand why we aren't involved/recruiting him. I know it's just a highlight reel, but he looks very athletic, nice shot, plays hard...really looks like a player to me. What am I missing?

Thanks, I'll hang up and listen.

Holy hell that kid can jump out of the gym!

Granted it doesn't look like he had much competition that was over 6' tall, but that doesn't take away from his obvious skill sets. I absolutely love his jump shot release, he has to be at the top of a 35"+ vertical when he releases that. I don't see many college kids who can do that, and it makes a jump shot almost in-defensible.

Offer him. If we lose Nunn we could use another wing on our roster for sure! Love him...

Let's not get too far ahead of ourselves. Chastain has a great basketball build and length and for a guy his size is really able to move well. That being said, we already have guys that are more athletic, most notably Nunn. He looks like one of those kids that has tremendous upside as he has some great raw skills but doesn't appear to have been coached very well. The first step with him will be adding some muscle to his frame and teaching him how to play defense because defensive fundamentals were atrocious, and that fits our current roster pretty well.

I assume innocence unless proven otherwise, but your example of Nunn's athleticism may actually be a reason to offer Chastain...

Offer walker today

yes, my thoughts exactly after reading that tweet yesteday. And seeing that you tube video gives one the reason he might be a big Illini fan. I didn't know that Ping didn't even start Isiah Thomas as a freshman until they mentioned it on the telecast .

Yeah. IMO, Nunn isnt really close. Chastains height/length and leaping put him way ahead. At no point will Nunn ever have an in game wind mill.

This Ramon Douglas Watkins thinks hes way better than he is. He is hurting Manual. They need to run through Williams. Its clear hes the best player.

Problem is that Williams never seems like he wants the game to run through him. So frustrating.

He's made a lot of nice defensive plays. He boards, a few tips and steals. Good length and smooth. I like what I see

Yeah, all of that has definitely been there. And several really good passes that his teammates couldnt handle that college level players would be able to. Most likely.

DaMonte reminds me of DJW at times. He has all the tools, but just hasn't been able to put it together consistently yet. Luckily DaMonte has time to figure it out.

Also can't help but feel like he'd be a lot better player at this point if a certain McClain was still coaching at Manual.

Damonte at least with some effort today. Did a lot of things right.
