IMO, which is based only on highlights so take it for what it's worth, Conditt looks better than Castleton right now and in terms of potential. He looks so fluid athletically, which I value way more than bulk and strength (and vertical, although I don't see anything wrong with his). Regardless of whether he gets bigger, he looks to have the aggressiveness to block shots and rebound outside his area. Combine that with seemingly very good handling and shooting for a big, and I think he projects to be a very good college player.

I just don't see Castleton being much of a contributor at the high D1 level.

Really? I project Castleton as a much better version of Finke.

Have you seen his Hudl? Very impressive stuff.

I would love to see footage of conditt v castleton

I wish whoever has it would post it on youtube, or whatever.

We know Castleton already has visits set up for Illinois and Xavier, but here are comments from an article in a Daytona paper published today:

He said he’s highly interested in both Florida State and Purdue, and has recently been contacted by Indiana, Ohio State, Michigan and Texas.

Florida State gives me some concern. I guess it's good that we are his first visit, but Conditt appears to me to be a more likely commitment.

Also, Conditt got an offer from Western Kentucky today.

Perspective on Henry and THT from a Michigan State perspective:

Henry seems like . . . almost a sure thing at this point. His 247Sports Crystal Ball Predication is leaning 100 percent toward the Spartans as of press time. Again, that is not the end-all-be-all, always accurate assessment of college recruiting, but it is close.

Another recruit to keep in an eye is Talen Horton-Tucker, whose Crystal Ball Predication favors the Spartans at 67 percent. However, perennial power program Kansas just offered Horton-Tucker a couple of days ago. Illinois is also still in the running for their in-state prospect.

As has been mentioned before, MSU has already filled all of its scholarships for 2018. Izzo's active recruitment of these guys shows he's not concerned but it's hard to believe they get both Henry and THT.

Really don't think Henry is lock to MSU, and don't think he is coming here either.

From what I have heard Henry, and Eric Hunter may want to play together in college (they're on the same AAU team, and are close friends.) The only schools that both of them have on their lists are Butler, Xavier, and Ohio State.

I think that it is a possibility it is one of those 3 for Henry, especially if MSU is able to get THT or someone they're prioritizing over him.

You are watching different highlights than I have seen. Castleton looks really good. He is a high priority for the coaches.

You have seen Castleton's junior year highlights and don't see a D-1 player? He can shoot, handle the ball, block shots, run the floor, etc. Not sure what you are looking at.

I might be mistaken, but didn't George outplay him pretty recently? I know one game doesn't project the rest of their careers, maybe that's what he saw. I'd be thrilled with either :thumb:

I was wondering same. He has size, moves well, blocks shots ,can dribble. Seems very solid and the defense is good. Daytona paper is sure gonna say FSU has a shot. Since we have started looking at him, always thought he a good get. See what visit brings, get Trent to talk to him😉. :illinois:

Castleton hudl video is impressive, seems like solid pick-up. Would put him ahead of Finke and Mav as hs players.
Probably take Castleton over Conditt right now but wpuld like Sow as a PF. Sow looks like a player who will defend and rebound.

Never read Conditt outplayed Castleton, any video or reports?

He sure did. As you said, one game. It may or may not mean anything. Big men are often at the mercy of the guards in AAU. I would like to have both of them, actually.

I just wondered how the poster did not see a D-1 player in Castleton.

I have no idea what a Hudl is, so I guess I haven't seen it.

I actually differ from many on here in that I'm not very high on Finke. I hope he does well as a skilled big in this offense, but I think he is very limited by his lack of quickness (slow first few steps in particular). In what little I've seen of Castleton, he also appears slow footed.

Watching Conditt run and move, I see someone who will be able to help and recover on perimeter D, block shots from the weak side, see the trajectory of rebounds caroming off the rim and go get them, get out in transition for easy layups and catch on the move in the half court. He also appears to have a good motor based on the limited clips I've seen. You just don't see many 6'10" guys move around the court like him.

Edit: just saw the Hudl and Castleton looked good. That's not what I had seen previously. I'd be very happy with either, but I still love Conditts potential due to what I think is elite mobility for a player that long.

Conditt is a project and a half. I like his offensive potential as much as anyone, but man, he will be a major defensive liability for at least 2 years.

This ESPN article from a couple summers ago actually talks about how many players don't lift. It's among the 4 risk factors young NBA players (college aged guys who were 1-2 and done) have for injuries.

http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/13217004/the-four-injury-risks-today-young-nba-players-face

This one talks about the strength coach revolution in college.

http://www.espn.com/mens-college-ba...ditioning-coaches-all-rage-college-basketball

Well it says the ones who don't....should.

"Muscles are the biggest shock absorbers against the wear and tear." So while it says there has been some..some movement away from traditional weights, they are still working out AND it would be better to reintroduce more lifting.

Tim Grover seems to have a little success in his career.

It's really hard to judge Conditt on summer ball, he is a project , but looks like he could have potential that strength and conditioning will make solid. They both have their senior year to get more work in. Like others have posted, either will work just which one wants to be with us. I'm not sure we could find a way to make it work for both. Still like to have Castleton.

Are you sure? I'm pretty awesome.

This reminds me of the movie with Luke Wilson and Vince Vaughn, I think Back to School. The big guy running to trampoline and he had little Haji as his spotter!
