Why do you think he will struggle? Quickness, effort, adaptation to system?

I haven’t seen him sit down in a good defensive stance yet. He stands too upright and looks stiff. That’s not going to work in our pressure defensive system. It may be something the coaches can quickly correct, but I think it’s common for freshmen to struggle with that because they can get away with it in high school.

This is my first time seeing Ayo (other than highlights). I love his length for a guard and his ability to score and draw fouls at the rim. Shot has looked decent enough to keep defenses honest but I don’t see him turning into a dead-eye 3-point shooter. I think he may struggle defensively next year.

Forgot to mention that his half-court shot looks good.

Is there actually anything to this Caroline thing...or did someone just throw it out there and we all started thinking about it. I'd love it - guy has an engine, plays hard

He has connections to us, that's the only reason. Same with Cunningham. Just like Finke has connections to GCU.

We try to rationalize why a transfer might or might not happen. But it's silly because we have no clue what is going on inside the guy's head. It makes sense for him to come to Illinois, it makes sense for him to stay at Nevada, and I'm sure there are plenty of other schools that would be a great fit.

Let's see what happens. Most players don't want to be a distraction during the season, just like Mark Smith and Leron.

IQ, quickness, length and/or athleticism lead to a great defender. I wouldn't worry too much about defensive stance.

I think there are a lot of kids in high school who don't focus on the little things because they have the talent to overcome it. Remember how Damonte had a questionable motor in high school? His motor is right up there with Leron's now.

How was Underwood at the game yesterday? I swear he was on my TV at the exact same time.

Miller is going to be a great player. He's a bit of a chucker at times, but he has plenty of time to improve that. His stroke, his build, his defense, he's going to be a special player. YOU OWE US NICK!!!!

Aurora, IL
2018-19
Guards
Ayo Dosunmu (Fr)
Alan Griffin (Fr) --- Could have listed him as a SF, but I see him as a 3 in this "positionless system"
Courtney Ramey (Fr)

Forwards
Tevian Jones (Fr)
Austin Trice (Fr)

Center
Samba Kane (Fr)

2019-2020 - 4 Open Scholarships
Guards

Forwards
Francis Okoro (Fr)
Kahlil Whitney (Fr)
EJ Liddell (Fr)

Center
Kofi Cockburn (Fr) --- There is interest here, and given his size, strength and skill, he should be pushed hard

This 2018 recruiting class would have a 247 Class Score of 64.44, which would have been top 10 in 2017.
This 2019 recruiting class would have a 247 Class Score of 66.61, which would have been top 5 in 2017.
This is very, very optimistic considering where the program is right now, but why not?! That's what this board is for. :thumb:

Don't pressure Nick. Kid gloves work best.

We could definitely use Finke this year, but if he leaves, let the rebuild happen quicker.

Trice will be coming in as a JUCO transfer, not a freshman. He will only have 2 years of eligibility

Yeah, no harm in penciling out dream classes, I guess.

But reality is probably going to look a lot different.

Congratulations Nick, now let's talk about that Miller kid. Chin is right here to talk about the details.:thumb:

Underwood back in Peoria for Liddell’s game. Wish he would have gone to watch Ramey play instead.
