My understanding is that there is some growing concern about Trice and his lack of skills. He certainly can run the floor and jump, but he doesn’t offer much else. He can’t shoot from the field or from the free throw line and despite being a leaper, isn’t a good shot blocker. It’s possible that Giorgi commits on his visit at the end of the month and if so, that could effect Trice’s recruitment even more.
:thumb: I hope we close on Giorgi when he visits.

Weird I was there all night and never saw any of them or anyone wearing any Mizzou garb at all.

What is cool is that there were like 1000 people wearing ILL gear.

Hard to miss Martin but they were all there. I only saw them as I was walking out.

Jordan Brangers

What ever happened with Jordan Brangers? Did he wind up committing to anyone?

How many stars were Davis and Williams of Texas AM? Man I hope we could find bigs like those two.

Trice is an outstanding rebounder and a terror in transition

This is a factual statement. The issues are 1) He’s a liability at the free throw line. I mean he’s statistically worse than what Shaquille O’Neal was for his career. 2) He won’t stretch the floor. 3) What skills does he possess in the half court other than put backs? 4) He won’t be a bad rebounder because that’s a skill that generally transfers well from level to level, but as I said, he won’t be known as a rim protector. Additionally, if he’s pulling down the rebounds, he probably won’t be finishing at the other end in transition on the same possession.

He holds an offer so the staff must think he could contribute in some ways, but he may not be plan A.

We need to find a player that fits the system, fills a need, and makes others better. Watched Caroline again today. I don't see him coming here. But a player like him doesn't fit BU system. Not a true PF or rim protector. Elijah Thomas or the Syracuse PF/C are the types we need.

On rim protection...where do we sit in the James Wiseman stakes?

Plus, will he be able to hold his own in the B1G...

Huge step up in competition and athleticism than JUCO.

Competition yes. As far as athleticism goes, Trice is as explosive as they come and that will definitely not be an issue. We can’t expect to get a polished forward with hops like that, at least not now. That is airy fairy thinking. Those kinds of players are either playing for blue bloods or in the NBA. The key for Trice is if he can play serviceable defense without fouling. If so, he will be an excellent pick up for us.

Okay, so are the chances of Okoro reclassifying completely out of question?

You would be surprised how well he runs the court. I watched him play this year and there were 2 occasions when he got a rebound and started the fast break himself and made good passes in transition as well. Dude plays with a tenacity that this team desperately needs. His offensive game needs some polishing but there are many ways in our offense to score. We don't necessarily need him to be a Leron and run offense through him or expect him to score like that. He will be able to handle the pinch post and we can run him as a weak side cutter as well. We started seeing a lot more alley oops towards the end of the year and Trice can flat get those and throw them down with authority. Yes, he may be a terrible free throw shooter but teams are not just going to keep fouling him every time he touches the ball or they will be in foul trouble quickly. He also does pretty well defensively and moves his feet good and does a pretty good job of staying out of foul trouble. And although he may not be a traditional rim protector, he does have good timing and crazy hops. I can assure you these 6'3 ish guards are not gonna be driving the lane on him and scoring layups against us like they did this year. I like what he can bring to this team. He is one of those junkyard dogs and is a rebounding machine and when he is in the open court, turns into a highlight reel. We could definitely use someone with that kind of energy

If recent years are any indication, we will see the list of potential inbound transfers grow significantly over the next few weeks. The staff is likely biding their time.

Interesting.... a 6'9" redshirt junior, Kerwin Smith, is on this list... he's from GCU...

His name is the most interesting thing about him. His stats would suggest a pass.
