No good place to put this, so I’ll ask question here. Saw article on all city team and it mentioned Chaz Harvey playing at Brooks and had quote from his coach George Montgomery. Is that former Illini George Montgomery?

What is the deadline for transfers deciding where they will go
I don’t believe there is an actual date, as long as they can enroll in classes in time for the fall semester. I don’t think there is a deadline to enter the portal either other than the same situation of being enrolled to be eligible at a different school.

Do we know timing on announcements from our expected transfers out?

I won’t argue that more people will have heard of you if you play in those regions and your at home crowds will be bigger, so if you want a lot of Twitter followers maybe best to stay in those areas. Butthere is more to choosing a school and the college experience than that. And I can guarantee you that others besides Jon Rothstein will see them — NBA execs. Last year Pac 12 had 6 first rounders and 4 second rounders in NBA draft, while B1G had 1 and 3 respectively. In 2019 Pac 12 had 2 and 4 to B1G’s 2 and 5, and in 2018 it was 3 and 4 versus 4 and 4. And in 2017, Pac 12 had 6 first rounders to B1G’s 3, and 8 seconds versus 1 for B1G. So the important people are seeing kids play out west.
Probably 1% of the people on this message board have acces to the P12 network, they simply don’t get to see P12 games regularly. The P12 has far more NBA talent roll through that league than the B10. Also much of the P12 NBA talent is one and done, while the B10 NBA talent is usually players sticking around for multiple years. At the beginning of league season P12 had 65 players (including two players that won NBA MVPs) on NBA rosters & B10 had 44 players (mostly rotation or roll players). With Meyers Leonard being cut today, Illinois has 0 players on a NBA roster for the first time in decades.

It would stand to reason that we on occasion pull the rug out from a competing program and snag a top-50 guy. Am I crazy or does it seem like we are never on the other end of one of these deals?
THT felt that way, but then we pulled the offer, which ultimately worked out well for us.

Because the transfer portal has so many great players in it I'm not overly concerned about some of these prep misses. But you gotta feel for the staff putting in hours, days, weeks, months, and even years investing in a kid only for someone to swoop in with some shenanigans at the last second.

Burnette mentioned Alabama in an interview when he was in high school. Mentioned someone he was close to, friend or coach.

Tre Mitchell would be awesome as our stretch 4. His asst. coach is marrying his mom and he said Tre will ultimately return to UMass.

Myles Johnson woukd be a great replacement for Kofi. Hope we get an impact transfer or 2.
Dang! Now they’re marrying people to get recruits?!?!? Are any of our coaches single? Let’s go fellas! Get on a knee to Mrs. Enoch Bsomethingsomething!

Why do we need that role to be filled? We have several of those players already. We need the Ayo role to be filled (insofar as that is even possible).
Really? Who? Not trying to be sassy, just curious who you think can be classified to that role.

Feel all that Ulster in me. Breathe, take a drink/smoke, and realize we have a solid coaching staff that develops Youngbloodz on a level we have been deeply missing. Great Grandfather up in Iroquois County would always say, what makes us special is that we are invested in the sports side, but we are more invested in what type of person you grow into at the end. I see that clear as day with Underwood and the whole staff. Not for the faint of heart, but you will be pushed to be not only the best on the court but off as well.

There's so many players in the portal it's insane. Hell, if we strike out on everyone we're after, you can do a lot worse than Myles Johnson and Armaan Franklin. 2 guys from the B1G.

356 teams x 13 scholarships per team (approx) 4628 players on Div 1 rosters. For ease of use we'll say 25% are seniors that are graduating. So 3471 players in Division 1 that will play in Division 1 again next year. 900 are in the transfer portal. So 26% of Division 1 is switching teams as of right now. Any disappointments in how the roster is filled out right now feels premature.

So Kofi has not made up his mind, and I was told he played a role in recruiting this kid to possibly come play with him at school. Take that as you will, but this is a huge commitment.
So circling back to this, was this Boakye, or is there some other recruit I should be excited about until Georgia Southern jumps in at the last minute with a job for his cousin's dog-walker?
