Is 24% from three bad??
Let's make it comparable to 2 pt. %. If you took 20 shots from 3 pt. territory @ 24% that would be 4.8 baskets. Let's up
that to 5 baskets which would total 15 points. From 2 pt. distance that would be 7.5 baskets. 7.5/20 = 37.5%. What does that tell
you about 24% from 3 point distance?

I mean Alstork was a good 3 pt shooter until the Illini rims broke him.
I wonder how Alstork would do now. Illinois was still trying to mimic the SF Austin identity. and Alston was picking up 3 cheap fouls a game 40 feet from the basket. I think he could have had success in a different system.

So looking to ahead to a post-Kofi era, whether that be next year or in 2 years, with the length we appear to be bringing in do we start to play more up the line defensively?

Thanks for helping me out with all the information!!! Anyone remember Brad Melton? I think I spelled name correctly. Just my very limited thoughts and intelligence on players and the recruiting process. Seems like a similar player. Why can I remember things from more than10 years ago better than now? Uh oh, think I answered my question.
You are not alone on the memory thing:)

Yeah, there was a lot going on that year that isn't now. That is one player I felt particularly bad for. To his credit, he became an excellent on-ball defender by the time the season was over.

haha no, tyty is an automatic starter if he comes here. Top 15 player in the class imo.
Yeah. I guess my statement didn't really make any sense. If TyTy is signed, I doubt we'd want/be able to get a starting caliber transfer, so it's probably more an either/or than a depth chart thing. Lots of moving parts this off season, that's for sure.

In terms of priority, does this make sense?
1. TyTy
2a. (if Kofi goes pro) Transfer starting-caliber big
2b. (if we don't get TyTy) Transfer starting-caliber guard
3. Depth guard (Podz)
4. Depth big

And then along those lines, how long to you go after TyTy if it means missing out on a Franklin or similar transfer? I guess with my list, I have a hard time thinking the staff would take a Podz commitment without knowing more about the transfer situation and TyTy.

Nice recall. Melton was a one trick pony for us. Podz is a bit longer and, as you said, his offensive game is much more versatile. More athletic too.
Ok, spot shooter, step up shooter, remember he played against mainly small schools. Obviously looking for all skills however that might translate to a 5* recruit. Definitely have to play defense for BU, sometimes shooter vs defensive player don't corelate. Seems like roster is getting larger. Without knowing what happens with Kofi at this point where do schollies go. Finding out about his intentions makes things more finite. Never turn down great talent when available. So many players in the portal now,,many options.

Nice. I also hope that Curbelo’s great season and him being recognized as conference 6th man of the year could entice a recruit that likes that pathway as much as starting as a freshman

I know this is an unpopular opinion here, but my hope is that when it comes down to the last shot, our opponents won't know who is going to take that last shot.
I'm hoping we make the last shot.

Brett Melton

Kruger told his staff to find the best shooter in the nation, and he just happened to be found in Mahomet.

I think Podz is considered much better than Brett, but the comparison had entered my mind as people kept talking about his shooting. Podz a much better ball handler and better at scoring. Off the dribble.
Funny thing is that Sean Harrington and Cory Bradford were both better 3 pt shooters on those teams. More versatile, too.

Underwood has def shown a willingness to start freshman.
100%...my comment isn’t about Underwood, but more about Curbelo and Adam and our need for a long athletic wing. Especially if Kofi leaves, we may not be able to spare playing 3 guards under 6’4

Still would prefer a transfer wing over a third freshman wing for roster purposes. Disappointing if Burnett ends up at Bama.
