Not sure you can say immature. Dad is pulling left while mom is pulling right. Horrible place to be at 18, no matter how mature. I feel for the kid. DePaul may be a great spot for him.

I dont disagree, but how do we get DePaul when one parent wants Mizzou, one Illinois?

If Tilmon doesn't come to Illinois, I'd be glad to see him go to Depaul. How often do we bemoan the fact that 0 teams from Illinois make the tourney? (I feel like it's been a couple times in the last few years).

I want Illinois to be the best team in the state, obviously, but I'm happy to see Northwestern and (maybe?) Depaul make some moves toward relevancy. At the very least, Tilmon ending up at not-Mizzou is a good thing. Mizzou is the one team for which I only wish the worst.

I said it yesterday that Depaul is in on Tilmon. Tilmon will end up at Illinois or Depaul. Depaul is intriguing to him, because of Heirman, and Tyger. Bowen would just be icing on the cake. IF Bowen commits to Depaul, expect Tilmon to follow right after. Depaul is the one to beat at this point.

I saw it mentioned earlier, but I watched Tilmon for one entire game while at LaLu. It was on ESPN (I think) right before Tilmon suffered his injury as a Junior. As was stated here, Tyger controlled the ball and Bowen took all the shots. To be honest, Tilmon looked awful and he seldom touched the ball.

While I still want him in C-U because of his strength, presence and potential -- I don't really understand why he'd want to go back and play on a DePaul team with his former LaLu coach, PG and potentially its #1 scorer.

Last day for high school recruit to sign is May 17th? If they miss that what options do they have?

Can't sign twice. Regardless if he commits somewhere tomorrow or next week, the recruitment won't be over until he steps foot on campus in June when incoming players report.

Nobody has been able to get any information out of Tilmon or his family for weeks.... do you know him personally?

Isn't the DePaul situation substantially similar to Missouri in JTs case? Both teams have questionable rosters except at Missouri they have Porter...a one and done...at DePaul they may get Bowen...a likely one and done. Some argument has been made why would JT go to Missouri if Porter is leaving after one year therefore why would JT go to DePaul if Bowen leaves after one year...will JT consider DePaul...sure...not buying JT leaning to DePaul...only considering DePaul like Illinois and Missouri

I agree , and if he jumps up a class no way he is still a 5 star, he isn't close to Ayo in talent

You are right, Tyger shouldn't even be in the same discussion as Ayo, not even close to his level. Ayo was giving it to him when they went head to head.

I cannot recall...why did JT leave Lalu? Just curious since Some are linking JTs interest to DePaul to the Lalu Coach

If you want a guaranteed spot, you do need to sign one. We aren't talking 5 star caliber recruits with UI at the moment that you reserve a spot for. If Tilmon chooses not to sign one and a fifth year 5 wants to commit and is willing to sign, I say take the transfer. Tilmon is not a 5 star anymore, for reason. We've signed too many good players who've declined in similar fashion their last year or two in HS that I want the player who is most likely to contribute in year 1. On top of that if you give any credence to Miggy's post earlier today, I wonder if Tilmon was part of that group where desire, attitude, and motor are in question. Some of us are wayyyy to hung up on the fact that Tilmon was 5 star, very briefly, on some recruiting sites, though not all.

Tilmon already signed and asked out. He can't sign again, that's the point.

Maybe a way for a 18 yr old to get out of a tough spot, and not make anyone upset....Mom-ILLINI lean, Dad-Mizzou lean....Kid wants to maybe do whats right in his mind and pick Switzerland=DePaul and stay neutral with both?

Just maybe:chief:, Mom does the cooking right....pick Illini

I'm with your on this thinking , WHY would he want to play with the players and for the coach he left, when he knew they had a shot at the nat. champ. only to go play with them at DePaul. People must be forgetting he left them for a reason, and yes he said to be closer to MOM that's the same MOM who wants him at Uof I

Point? What point, yours? Not mine. MY point is that because Tilmon is not guaranteed to show up based on recent happenings, if someone wants to commit between now and the day Tilmon enrolls, I take that NLOI. I don't hold a spot for him if someone who helps under the basket immediately want's in. Tilmon is not a guaranteed contributor in year one. You said it yourself, Tilmon CANNOT sign another NLOI so there is no guarantee until the moment he enrolls in classes. I'm just saying, you know, the whole bird in the hand thing..... If, at the end of the day, there is an open spot. Of course you take him. I just don't think you can afford to turn big bodies away that fit the BU system in our current position.

We have 4 open spots... this won't ever be an issue with our current scenario

That likely would make everyone upset.

I agree with all that and I don't believe he's coming here anyway. I thought you meant he needed to sign again :noidea:

At this point, while it would stink for us from a basketball standpoint, maybe from a personal growth perspective, DePaul isn't such a bad option for the young man?

There has been so much back and forth between Illinois and Missouri regarding this kid and the verbiage has gotten toxic. Whichever school he chooses, there will be drama and accusation apparently. The reality is that he doesn't know either coach, he doesn't truly know how he'd fit into either system....it's just a tug of war between two unknowns

Here comes DePaul where he knows a coach, he's very familiar with one teammate already, possibly two and if he chooses them, he completely removed himself from the Illinois/Missouri tug of war/venom/accusations. That spotlight and pressure is just removed.

Taking our Illini basketball hats off and putting on our parental hats, maybe it's the healthiest, safest atmosphere for him? Just a thought. I really feel for these kids sometimes.

I'd be willing to say that Tilmon is closer with coach Walker than he is coach Heirman

Anyone know if we could be a silent player here?

I was under the impression that South Carolina was the team to beat for him. He said he would be reclassifying if he didn't have offers that he liked. I'm not aware of the playing time situation at SC but I understand that appeal of their program currently and that might be tough to overcome. The timing doesn't look good. He was on a visit to SC last week and I don't believe he has visited UIUC. With a decision today, it doesn't look so good.
