Surprisingly unbiased article for Purplestein.

Thanks for the read, although it seems someone might actually read the forums, as much of this could be found as rehashed topic points at some point.:chief:
Wow -- not the type of article I was expecting from Teddy. That's an incredibly positive article for BU and Illini basketball.

tough for greenstein to put a negative spin on it
he spoke to D1 coaches to get their impressions of the additions and subtractions to the illini roster and reported what they said
rave reviews for alstork, smith and frazier; basically, a no great loss assessment with regards to jcl, tilmon and pickett
surprised at the negative comments on tilmon

on Tilmon....nice to know that most coaches see beyond the stars/ranking. I was surprised on JCL not making workouts...surprised if a non Illini coach would know those details

Will be interesting to see how the JCL situation plays out. I think he will end up at Depaul or ND but we will have to see. From what I have heard, Heriman was in his ear about Depaul long before it became official, and that he did wind up visiting there with his brother Isaiah (who played at LaLu last year) and the rest of his family along with, Brian Bowen, and Tyger Campbell.

I was surprised too. No matter how disgruntled you are, probably not a good idea to skip out on those types of things, especially when your teammates are showing up and putting the time in. No matter how good of a person you are, I think we all pretty much know that perception is reality. That part of the article probably could have been kept out and could have stayed between coach and team.

That said, he obviously didn't agree with the style, which from all accounts is far more intense than Groce's system and if the workouts we're too labor intensive, the effort needed to succeed was more than he was able to give....whatever the reason, I feel better about the transfer now than I did a couple of days ago. The lack of intensity, the breakdowns, etc...have all been part of this past regimes DNA. I think you're seeing that with the specific kids who are leaving the program and the one recruit who never recommitted.

I get the feeling Underwood runs a practice that I wouldn't have very much fun at.

Agau to SMU. Liked chances with him. Underwood will be walking the streets like a paper boy soon. Minutes here! Get your minutes here!

Comment was made in jest as I hope BU isn't actually walking the streets to find a big man. Primary reason I would like a big man, even though I don't want BU to settle for someone not necessary and to use scholarship wisely, is so I don't have to listen to Dakich and every other announcer talk about how the illini have no post depth for 40+ games. We all know that it will be mentioned at least 4-5 times per game.

Next game should be to pick out most popular phrase from each year with each team........ "Rayvonte Rice is a man amongst boys" or "Malcolm Hill; the butcher, the baker, the candlestick maker" just immediate ones that come to mind

Don't forget Tisdale and his 6,000 calorie diet.

MIF lost two games yesterday in EYBL at LA, including by 10 pts to Meanstreets, without Talen Horton-Tucker. Not sure if he's gone for the weekend or just yesterday. But Ayo was basically the offense for them.

Not sure why but I just got a chuckle out of the below tweets. MIF lost for 2nd year in a row to MS. Finke had probably the worst day I've seen him at EYBL 2 of 11 from the floor against the Fire for 7 points, and 2 for 8 from the floor for 8 points against a team from NYC. Liddell and Okoro both had 2 good games in 2 Bradley Beal wins.

Meanstreets based out of Gary, Indiana not Chicago.

I actually never knew that. I always assumed Meanstreets was from Chicago.
