Braun to Mizzou as preferred walk on should prove a few things. 1) he isn’t very good 2) this may be just how desperate Illinois is right now and 3) just how delusional a fan base can be.

I generally enjoy learning, but I'm not having much fun right now

He even said himself in an article someone posted earlier (I think it was an LSU site) that he was looking to redshirt his first year. Teams were openly talking to him about that.

A poster on another board said illinois pulled their offer to Braun and that Caroline was working out at Ubben. I know, ridiculous, right? Or...

Pretty crazy since he already confirmed he was going back to Nevada.

Cunningham is coming?

So let me get this straight. PB has offers from Az, LSU, Va Tech, Ol Miss and the Illini but chooses to walk on at Miznoz.
Find this hard to believe.

Perhaps those are no longer committable offers? At any rate, it was incredibly unlikely that Parker Braun was going to make any real difference for us this year or next. Incredibly unlikely just flipped to zero chance. Shoulder shrug.

Or it could prove that our staff is fumbling around in the dark a lot of the time.

seems like a stretch to me. How many people would give up a guaranteed four year scholarship for the promise, but not guaranteed, three year at most scholarship.

I am wondering if the staff really wanted him. Not sour grapes, but befuddlng for sure.

The PB commitment is hilarious... in the fact that at this point guys would rather walk on somewhere than take a scholarship here.:doh:

What is Walker even doing anyways?
He's been lead on quite a few stunning misses. Who are his guys on the roster currently?

Caroline has been working with the team since the school year ended. Hes still not coming here

How is this allowed? Cause he was potentially transferring so these were just lots of unofficial visits lined up?

Why would this be allowed by Underwood? In the hopes that he would transfer here? Or was Caroline straight up about not coming here the whole time?

I mean....wouldn’t you want your players competing against top competition in the offseason?? I see zero issues with this, in fact I love it.

Not JUST here. He had other offers. The real question is, “What is Martin selling/telling these players?”

Martin has always been a good recruiter, so expecting that to change is futile.

The issue is not what Martin does or will do, the key would be what we do and how successful we will be in drastically upgrading the talent on this team.

& just yesterday there was a debate on if he would consider Nebraska over us.

Meh, the kid has some family connections to Mizzou, says he wants to stay closer to home, knows the Porters, Mizzou promised him a scholly next year.
The staff apparently wanted him so it is a miss, but this won't be the one that breaks our back.

Yeah this is the question. Why walk away from what we understand are commitable offers to walk on anywhere?

As I have said many times, when you go into Spring and you have major gaps, you will take some chances with "projects." You hope some will pan out, if not though, they will likely leave in the future.

Some posters make it sound that every recruit and "project" is part of a deliberate strategy and all we need is our secret weapon Fletch to make them into stars. Oh... look at that low ranked recruit somewhere in college basketball 3 years ago who became so good!!!

We need to have a very successful 2019 recruiting class in the fall, with some difference makers and highly ranked recruits at positions of need, otherwise if we go into Spring with many gaps again, the same scenario will play out. We need to improve our primary fall recruiting, that is the key. And before someone mentions Ayo, yes, Ayo is good but a fall class of 1 when we have many needs is not enough. We needed more last fall and we simply did not get it.
