Their family meeting last night included watching the Illinois-Mckendree game and that's what cemented Tilmon's commitment to the Orange and Blue! :D

Ha! Maybe that's why Morgan and Thorne shot the ball a combined 24 times last night.

Let me just say that it looks really likely that Tilmon is coming to Illinois. About as likely as the Indians winning the series when they were up 3-1, or Clinton winning the election.

Why move the press conference back if it wasn't related to him signing the LOI. If he signed the LOI for another school, can't he not comment on it? Or can he comment on any recruit that has committed somewhere else?

It's just so weird when they say that he signed "a" NLI and not "Illinois" NLI.. so so weird...

I'll add to this: if he signed a NLI today and it wasn't to Illinois, why on earth would Bret Beherns from WCIA know about it?

Also if you are Groce and the PR staff, if you didn't have the letter in hand right now and/or was still not sure it's going to be you, then why would you move your presser now to after the announcement and have to face the press if it isn't Illinois.

If the reporter said he signed an Illinois NLOI, he'd steal the kid's thunder. Seems he wants to make the announcement himself tomorrow.

Time to move on to the next scholarship need, so assume the staff is now aggressively going about doing their due diligence to bring on Epperson or suitable transfer to spell Tilmon at the 5.

I have a hard time believing that anyone would be able to successfully keep Robert from A Lion Eye away even at gunpoint.
Lol he just tweeted he isn't going. Then brought back the fond memory of when he went to the Snider announcement in Louisville.

Well the school says its cause it conflicts with the Womens BBall game... which it did and they said it was an oversight scheduling it at the same time.

What does a PG have to do with a PF/C?

Evanston kids did t-shirts, much better than those hat grabs. Just take off your jacket and voila! Nojel (and the girl basketball player going to Western Mich and the guy track star going to Iowa)all seemed like classy kids.

Unless of course you have a Kansas t-shirt on underneath your Illinois t-shirt underneath your jacket.

Of course then you can just claim it was an accident. :thumb:

We're really running the gauntlet of references to days of recruiting past here..

This is just one man’s thinking, but isn’t there only one possible outcome now? Come on, there is no way, zero chance, any recruit could put a school through this waiting game and then choose to go elsewhere –– a day after the signing period is over?

That right there would take some serious intestinal fortitude to sign a letter-of-intent on the final day of the period, in a clandestine way, and then publicly say he has signed with a different school than he was committed to?

If it were to play out that way, then the Tilmon recruiting saga would go down as an all-timer in comparison to all the Illinois basketball recruiting heartbreaks. Yes, that includes the Eric Gordon days, the Quentin Snider de-committing on Signing Day, Cliff Alexander’s rope-a-dope hat trick and the runner-up finishes for Jon Scheyer, Demetrius Jackson, Jalen Brunson and a few others.

All of the above scenarios have left Illinois basketball fans sputtering and in disbelief, wondering: “Are we the most snakebitten college basketball program when it comes to recruiting?”

If this Tilmon thing goes any other way than the talented big fella having sent in that LOI to Illinois, then yes, Illinois fans can stake its claim to “we are the most snakebitten college basketball program when it comes to recruiting.”

But it’s time to finally say to Illini fans: relax, take a deep breath and fully expect something to go your way.

Tilmon can’t be that cruel.
