I've watched Tilmon many time and have warned people on multiple posts. I really like his potential, but he has a long way to go, and he is not even in the ballpark of being 1-n-done. I'd be surprised if the is 2-n-done as well.

He has size and is talented though. One thing that he needs to improve IMO is his shot release. He has a very low shot release, he needs to keep the ball higher on his shot.

His hands look extremely strong, but yeah you noticed the shot release when he shot FT's.

Probably worth mentioning that, I assume, ESL was missing players due to their football team playing in the state championship this weekend. I dont believe anyone playing football can play basketball until their football season is over. So I dunno if they are missing key guys due to that or not? If anyone knows?

Alonzo Verge and Thornton were in Decatur tonight for the Turkey tourney and Eisenhower put it on them. Only ended up winning by 6 but were up like 21 at the half. They slowed it down to eat clock in second half. Stefon jarret and Stephone Bobbit are players for Eisenhower. Verge finished 8-23 shooting and 9 turnovers.

Tilmon is good, he's a future pro. He's not going to dominate like a top 5 player as a freshman, but he's going to be the best post we've had in a long, long time.

Can you imagine what Fletch is going to do to that body of his? Let's hope he sticks around for all 4 years.

He may not be "ready" after 1 year but he could easily be 1 and done on potential. Nerlens Noel, Grant Jerrett, Joel Embiid, Chris McCullough, Skal Labissiere were all recent first round picks without distinguished college seasons.

Timon's potential and size make him a threat to be one and done regardless of his growth between now and end of next season.

I really doubt it, not in the same ballpark as Noel, Embiid, or Skal when they left college. He may decide to leave for other reasons but not because of high draft projections. We can revisit this discussion in 1.5 years.

I have seen great post moves by Tilmon on You.Tube while at LaLU. I was a bit underwhelmed when he was playing in the national high school tourney. But than again several of the players did little to feed him. I think he should stay a minimum of two years from I've seen so far. Last year was a good example of what happens when players try to leave a year early. Several went in the second round or undrafted, just look at Cliff as an example.

We need to get the younger Finke, a lights out tall SG would be great to have along some of the other players we have.

As with most freshmen making the adjustment to college basketball Tilmon will have some adjustments to make and plenty to refine and fine tune but he clearly is the most gifted and talented big man that has come into the program in many, many years. He is not an immediate program changer but certainly has the potential to be a program changer by the time he is done. As for Finke, I like him more and more every time I see him and I hope JG is all in on him. As we know though, often times kids want to get away from home for their college experience so hoping that is not the case in this situation. Couldn't help but notice all of the Illini gear in the house for the ESL/Central game - very noticeable.

Just thought I'd throw out a player that's emerging in the Chicago area that hasn't been talked about on here: Drew Peterson from Libertyville.

Kid is a 6'7" sharpshooting wing that's improving his game going to the basket. Apparently he was a beanpole last year as a sophomore but has added weight and continued growing. He also just took an unofficial to Michigan and is getting some high-major interest. One to keep an eye on this HS season.

There seems to be 1 kid every year that emerges during his senior year.

Watched an interesting prospect last night before the ESL game. Sophomore Kale Catchings from St. Louis CBC. Listed at 6'6", though I'm not sure he isn't closer to 6'4". He's got some good bulk on him already. He was the most physically developed player on the floor for either team (they played Chicago Brooks). He did it all for CBC. Good handles, nice shot, great ability to finish at the rim. I was impressed. I can't find a lot on him from a recruiting perspective, but he looks like an interesting player to keep an eye on.

You are correct, the football players can't join the team until the season is complete. They were definitely missing guys. How good those guys are I don't know.

We must have watched a different game last night.. I know I seen Tilmon beat double and triple teams to score, he rebounded very well, and his footwork was amazing for his size. Overall I think Tilmon will be a force in the Big10. As for Finke Groce needs to make him a top priority that kid can play

Watched the highlight reel. We've got to go 100% in on Tim Finke. I'm sure the staff is doing just that, but it would just be a heartbreaker to lose that guy. He can play.

He looks really good. Athletic, sweet stroke, dribbles well, makes smart plays.

I Can't tell if he is quick
