I think Wilkes is genuinely undecided. When he decides, he will make an announcement. I think he can make a strong case for any of his three remaining choices, but I also think all three offer some real good reasons for turning them down. IU is his home school and was likely his dream school, but I get the impression neither he nor his family likes Crean very much as a person.

UCLA has a great recruiting class, a blue-blood history, and a huge media market. It is also a very long way from home. I think family matters a lot for Wilkes.

UI has a great recruiting class and a coach who is the most decent human being of the three and with whom he seems to have really connected. He also seems to have detected a real family atmosphere among the players, no doubt forged and strengthened by all of the adversity of last year. I think he respects that. On the other hand, we've not won very many games lately.

Figure out which of those criteria matter to him, and which ones don't matter, and you should have a good idea of where he will decide to go. I haven't a clue, but I very much want to believe we are still in the game.

Spot on; VG post. One minor quibble: Groce is the most decent human being of the three by a country mile.

Been really busy lately and couldn't post anything but from what I'm hearing now from my sources is Kris Wilkes is leaning heavily towards Illinois.....I know I know I said it was going to be Indy but something changed I guess evdn though its us and Indy UCLA is out....

You see, that's the way you do it. You say Indiana, they run your out of the board, you say Illinois, you already made a few friends. :)

If I'm IU, I've gotta be feeling confident after yesterday's unofficial.

Or Gonzaga

It's interesting that you bring up Gonzaga, although there was nothing improper implied about them.

I'm close to someone who is very close to a current blue chip recruit. I know that doesn't get me much more than a bag of chips but I found one thing very interesting that I was told.

I haven't heard Gonzaga and this recruit at all mentioned so I think it was just a general statement since they are around coaches all the time. But I was told that the one school that more coaches get frustrated at in terms of shady dealing is none other than Gonzaga. That truly shocked me.

Maybe it's just that it is expected from the blue bloods but not from the Zags.

Gonzaga reputation

Old news with Gonzaga

Another interesting tidbit about the media darling Mark Few. Gonzaga has a long standing reputation for secretly video recording opponents' shoot arounds before games in Spokane. Heard this directly from a Big Ten head coach. If so, it didn't help them when we won out there during JG's first season. Great road win.

Indiana is trending for top 40 PG Tremont Waters. Offers from UK, Kansas, UCONN, etc.

The pessimist in me has me sold on Wilkes to Indiana after that Unofficial.

With Waters, Wilkes, and a red-shirted Hartman, IU would be over committed by 5.

Won't impact Wilkes though. Crean will take Wilkes, Waters, and Justin Smith while either not honoring current commitments or running off other guys (if the current commits all sign) if he is over-committed/signed at all.

Even if IU is only able to bring in one guy next year if everything played against them on their roster construction, Wilkes would be the guy - In-state, 5 star wing.

Same for me. I went on a rainy day and thought it was just a dreadful campus.
It wasn't because of the rain. I've been there a handful of times and still can't figure out why anyone would go there when they have other options.
