Tremont Waters

This would still give IU a great lead guard so it's not like they're any bit handicapped if they do land him. The kid did recently visit KU and GTown however....

My Georgetown friend is pretty confident. It will be interesting to see if any crystal balls start popping in their direction.

Indiana missing out on Waters and Wilkes would make my year. But don't worry, Smith should make up for Blackmon, OG, and Byrant leaving.

On topic, I'm not sure if TCT's posts hinting at Wilkes not attending HH weren't meant to imply he knows Wilkes is leaning our way or if it was just that he knew of this non-basketball reason for skipping the event.

Non basketball - how convenient. :D

Talking about a recruit announcing somewhere other then Illinois is one thing, generally posters keep those discussions to one-liners or at least refer to how it affects another potential Illini recruit. However, talking about the NBA, the Euro, Australian, and D-League has zero impact on anyone we are currently recruiting. I know that in 5k+ posts you've yet to admit to ever being wrong, quite the opposite actually. Therefore I'll not belabor the point or muddle the topic of Illinois Hoops Recruiting any longer.;)

Guess, sorry.:)

99% he will be there. The other 1% is for the car to breakdown on 465. Even then he could catch part of it.

@Love My Alma Mater - (sorry, forgot to quote your post)

Like that hasn't been done to this fan base over & over again.. it's the nature of the beast! He wanted to kick it with his boy on his football visit to IU. WILKES KNOWS after he committs to another school other than his State school, he's not gonna be able to just go on campus whenever he wants like this so... think of this way, a bunch of Kris' friends from his H.S. started attending IU this year. So why not go turn up with them one last time on campus before he announces? Just how I see it

Sadly, I agree with you.

People can rationalize all they want, but IMHO it would be uncharacteristicly negative of Wilkes to tease the IU fan base like that, then go elsewhere.

I don't think he's decided yet myself. I think he wants to go to IU but he thinks UCLA or UI is better for him. So he's torn.

Yeah in my mind the unofficial visit wouldn't have happened in that manner if he was already sold on it. It seems more likely that it was made as part of his decision process and the operative question is whether or not it pushed him any closer to deciding.

Wilkes missing Hoosier Hysteria (on the surface) seems to be favorable for both Illinois and UCLA, right? Even if he is traveling out of town to meet a friend for coffee, it appears leaving town is more important than IU basketball's big event.

Obviously am reading this in my orange glasses...

Or maybe The Wilkes' put some time and thought into all this so that the kid can have his moment and make an announcement where everybody is unsure. If he goes to HH, it's a tell to IU right? If he doesn't go, IU is out right? Well what if he doesn't go to HH, but takes an unofficial to IU the week prior? Keeps everyone guessing. That's the name of the game. Prolly why his GF is following UI staff and athletics. IMO this is being played very well by Kris and fam.

Per Adam Zagoria Twitter: "It appears that Georgetown is in good shape for Tremont Waters per several coaches"

Two ways to look at it. First, for a regular recruit, maybe not as important. But for a kid who has attended all HH events since freshman year, I believe it makes more of a statement. Second, if Wilkes is determined not to announce before HH (I thought he would), then it makes no sense to attend the event.

I'd caution waiting until the actual event though...
