You guys, it is entirely possible that his car broke down on I-465 on his way to the airport to fly to the Dominican Republic, and therefore, Indy Orange is not, in fact, full of it.

If he sets an announcement for this week I think we can be pretty sure what is happening. Otherwise, we at least have a shot.

Unless he has a special connection, I can't see why he wouldn't want to play on the bigger stage. State Farm Center, Bigger Crowds, Bigger stadiums around the Big 10, surrounded by a great recruiting class. Am I missing something? What is the allurement of VCU?

They also have an easier route to playing time. Have no idea how much emphasis he places on academics, but you would think we would have a clear edge there and with our alumni network.

Their fans also gave him more love.

I know what you are saying because I agree the hype seemed bigger with VCU fans. But man, that would be a risky thing to base a commitment on. I know it's many different factors, but that would be toward the bottom for me. I guess the opposite situation for us would have been Jordan Goodwin, where we had all the hype and it didn't seem like Saint Louis fans really paid any attention.

I'm not sure giving more love to a recruit is something Illini fans can claim works at all...

Oh, definitely. I'm sure that in the end, fan love isn't going to make that huge of a difference. I think that as the general fanbase goes, it's pretty clear that VCU is more excited about him than Illinois is, though. During his OV here, most of the chatter in this thread was conjecture about Wilkes.

I'd really like to see Kiir in O&B. He would very clearly be a key rotation player.
