I'm recruiting competition, has anybody seen the video of UM Jordan collection? Even if you're not a sneaker head it's pretty cool and I truly think it gives them another advantage because a lot of hoopers are sneaker heads, especially for Jordan's. For sneakers heads, the 10s, 11s, and 12s are sick, and are probably the most popular Jordan's out there.

Sigh....I'll take one. No more visits after the IU visit=Hoosiers all day.
Except that Groce is the last one to actually see him via the in-home he just had with his family, after his IU visit. ;)

For the record, even I still think it's IU.

I remember JCL recruitment being kind of quiet, then pleasantly surprised. What happen with Crean?

I do recall a rumor floating around that clappy rubbed the coleman-lands family the wrong way in some capacity. Clearly seems like IU is his destination, but if family ties are truly important this could hold a lot of weight. Gotta believe the coleman-lands' family has shared their feelings about good ole Crean.

I think people underestimate the appeal Adidas has, particularly for the lifestyle gear. I've seen numerous Adidas school athletes with Yeezys on and that can have quite the allure for a 17 year old. A lot of the kids in high school rather have a pair of Adidas's boost line than jordans.

There we go, there's the hope drumming post we needed to get everyone ready for a fresh punch to the nuts. Now all we need is an insider or two to tell us how confident the staff are of their chances and we'll really be cooking. I do say all this in jest of course

Seriously though, has stuemke weighed in on this one?

Not recently. Nor has Lucky.

Things are clearly moving, but I don't know that there's much actual smoke yet. Just a single CB for IU yesterday from a Duke guy. Worth noting that U of I has 0 CB's for him, but I realize CB's are more of a traffic tool than a reliable predictor.

Crean offered JCL after the 8th grade (just like Wilkes). JCL then wanted to commit after his Soph, year at Cathedral and Crean slow played him and then ultimately had Blackmon, Robert Johnson and Stanford Robinson all SG's in the clsss before JCL and Crean would not take his commitment. But as JCL's Uncle said it all worked out and they are happy.

Clappy really stuck it to the Paterson family, too. BTW the kid has left Syracuse and is now at IUPUI.

Wilkes would be great just don't get your hopes up. A Wilkes commitment to Illinois would be an incredible surprise. Groce has done a great job of staying in this recruitment but there really is no evidence to expect him to choose the Illini. The Wilkes family probably likes Groce more than Clappy and it is the reason Illinois is still listed. I can't shake the feeling that Wilkes is a kid who grew up wanting to go to IU and that he will eventually end up there.

Now let's concentrate on the player on campus. Kiir would be a tremendous pickup and fill the last remaining need for this class.

I wonder if 6'10" F, Deng Gak/2017 is still taking his OV to BTown next weekend?

This. I'd be fighting tooth and nail to be sponsored by Jordan, if I were in charge of the decision.

Was just at his son's Trophy store last week in Disney Springs and the shoes he had in in cases were mighty fine :thumb:

Would he commit at hoosier hysteria or before then if he commits to iu?

If he scheduled HH, then he's essentially announcing for IU. So I would expect something earlier.

Sure looks like Indiana at this point, but the one thing I would cling to if I were wanting to do that, is that rather than just set an announcement, he cut his list. Doesn't mean anything, but you could read into it that way if you wanted.

Basketball players would prefer Nike/Jordan over adidas let's say 95/100 times. some players even speak of the "adidas curse" where guys who wear adidas are injured at a higher rate. Maybe not true, but D Rose is the face of that perception, and he was at one point adidas' leading man. Also, nobody is gonna post a video like this of a line of specialized adidas shoes.

UI=Nike
IU=Adidas
UCLA=UA

So he is an UA AAU guy but being a Top 20 consensus recruit do you think the shoe companies will get involved? I'm not real convinced UI is high enough on Nike's priority list to get involved outside of the surefire Top 5 maybe Top 10 recruits. It would not be surprising at all for UA to get involved as they are very much assaulting Adidas for that number 2 spot and want to get to the point that they can challenge Nike.
