But Wilkes isn't an Illinois instate recruit, is he? I'm more interested in knowing what Wilkes considers to be the "little things." He said it would all come down to that.
I think he was interpreting it in the context that Wilkes might do to IU what top ranked in-state recruits normally do to us.

I understand the significance of Alford at IU and am not questioning why Crean would have a picture of him in there.

I find it incredibly odd for IU that Wilkes would be texting Alford, who is thought to be Crean's main competition for Wilkes, while sitting in Crean's office. It read as a red flag to me that Crean couldn't hold Wilkes attention. Am I reading too much in to it? Sure, it is recruiting after all. But a very odd situation nonetheless - sorry if you disagree.

I think you are reading way too much into the story. All Wilkes said was that he took a picture (at one point during his visit) and sent it to Alford (at some point, maybe not even during the visit). Wilkes was there on his official visit for a whole weekend, he was in and out Crean's office and IU facilities. You have built a scenario that Wilkes totally disrespected Crean while Crean was talking to him about important stuff, just ignored him, took a picture, and started texting with Alford while Crean was talking to him.

If that ever happened, it would be more damning on Wilkes' character than anything else, but doubt it happened this way. Texting Alford that picture is not exactly positive for Alford either, but I doubt Wilkes is a master psychologist. He is just a kid who thought it was funny to see Alford's picture at IU.

No telling if it will end up being 100% accurate, but I heard Wilkes will be announcing his college choice early next week (if not sooner) from a guy on campus today that I trust. Not player on the team trust, but a solid source of info for me nonetheless...

Just thought I would share what I have heard with everybody... and man I sure hope it's true one way or the other, b/c I think all of us are starting to get exceedingly anxious as to how this all turns out!

Wilkes has been a regular at Hoosier Hysteria, which this year is on Oct. 22. That is a clear inflection point (attending/not attending), so his decision will most likely be before that.

Quickly looking through Rivals (which only dates back to 2002):

2005: Charles Jackson, Chester Frazier, Jamar Smith
2006: Brian Carlwell, Richard Semrau
2008: Stan Simpson, Dominique Keller
2012: nobody

Those 2005, 2006 and 2008 classes really set us back for years to come

Man besides Chester that is a SLEW of 2 years or less guys.

Any other confirmation of this????

The 05 class signed in Nov 2004, before that NC season started. The real disappointment to me was that we couldn't land a decent PG until the 2007 class. And then it took until 2011 to get another one.

And after that it took until the 2016 or 2017 class to get a quality PG. Recruiting at that position has been the downfall for this program over the last decade. It seems that Groce has finally corrected that problem. I just hope it's not too late.

Bruce Weber was incompetent on the recruiting trail. He was so busy whining about the guys he lost that he just kept on missing. Maybe impotent is a better description.

Now JG has landed 3 in two years and is hot on the trail for the third year with some highly rated targets. Before you start typing... Damonte is a PG. He may not be the purest of 1s but that is what he will be

Interesting times
1. Wilkes down to Illinois, Indiana and UCLA
2. Kiir down to Illinois , NC State and VCU
3. Kigab down to Illinois and Oregon

Seems like all three coming to a head real soon.

Which of the three is the most important for the Future? Not necessarily the best player.

Wilkes. Having potentially 2 recruits in the same class in the MCDAA game would do wonders with the perception of the program nationally.

If all three want to commit, do we take all three? Do we want a seven man class? I know it is not going to happen, but...

What's really stopping us from getting an 8 man class? Do we say no to Epperson too? I'm not completely convinced that Scruggs is done considering us either but a 9 person class might be pushing it.

The Midwest farmer's daughters make you feel alright but I wish they all could be California girls.:)

Disagree . . .

the Southern girls with the way they talk
They knock me out when I'm down there

Don't be surprised to see a JGood de-commit too. :)

Those classes are pretty bad and many of those players didn't stick around. 2007 had McCamey, Tisdale, Davis, and Cole. Eventually added the transfer from Kentucky who turned out pretty overrated and couldn't shoot.
