Can someone please explain where this whole notion of THT and Ayo not being willing to play together originated? I’ve seen it over and over, but I don’t remember where it started and who said what...

I believe it all started when Elijah Thomas wouldn’t have fit in Groce’s system anyways.

Every blogger, predictor, analyst is speaking positively on what will happen on Thursday. I don't have a link because EVERY link is saying the same thing. Jerry Meyer rarely predicts ILL & at the moment he is even in line. Looks like the start of something great.. When was the last time the top two public league players in the state went to Illinois? Late 80s?

Ayo & THT has always been my fever dream. I'm over the moon! Huge statement for the program. Our '19 class could be a slam dunk. Excellent players are a huge draw. The powder keg is set!

If I had to guess what's happened here(and all this is pure conjecture), I'm thinking the people that have commented that the first domino to fall could start a reaction.

Ayo was a HUGE domino. It look a real leap of faith and supreme confidence in his abilities to commit. I give him a ton of credit. That makes the decision for the others to commit to Illinois a lot easier. Sometimes, people don't want to be the first to jump in the water, but when they find out the water is warm....you have a lot more people who want to bring the party to the pool.

I think that this is what is most likely happened.

That's just my 2 cents.

Yes, this is definitely a positive sign. I'm just saying if you want a significant correlation between Meyer's CB pick and a recruit's choice then you should wait to see where his pick is on Thursday. There are still in-home visits to go, don't take it as gospel just yet!

I'm only preaching caution because I'm still jaded by the fan base meltdowns over the past five years from similar situations.

How do we know that any in-home visits will take place? The Wake boards had some pretty detailed rumors about a Danny Manning in-home following his OV to UI-UC. We now know that in-home never took place. Here, we seem to be working on an ISU fanboard report that in-homes will take place, but there seems to be no detail beyond the claim that all three schools will make one.

It sounds to me like the decision is made and the time for in-homes has passed.

Lol y'all are so ridiculous. We're like the loser in high school who didn't know how to talk to girls so when he goes to college and girls come up to him he constantly second guesses himself. Lmao

My dream duo since April. To the extent I'm hesitant to talk about it now that it looks possible. Especially after 12 hours of meltdown on another board yesterday where everybody's first response was 'pull THT's scholly'. What?
But things seem much calmer there today and I'm really starting to hope.

Getting the top 2 CPL studs in the same year would be awesome. And THT only 16! By rights he'd have been playing 16U this summer and entering high school this fall as a junior. His future is scary good.

Eric Hampford CB to Illinois. 4 in 24 hours now. Hampford is 100% on his predictions this year.

Was this a switch like Jerry Meyer, or is this his first guess on this recruit?

We now have more balls than ISU!

So, some adults in one or both camps are butthurt over what caused THT to leave the Fire and leaving. If the kids want to be Illini, what's the problem? They don't play the same position.

2 points: I believe our staff can smooth ruffled feathers and, seeing as there isn't positional overlap, we aren't going to let kids or their camps dictate what we're going to do.

I say it's time to stop trying to figure out if there's anything in Capone's vault in regards to Ayo and THT. It's quite possible THT was merely frustrated with a lack of looks and felt Ayo had the ball in his hands as the PG (naturally), and perhaps felt the MIF coaches allowed that to be the case. Maybe, just maybe, he made a move to showcase his skills better, afterall; that's what AAU/travel is all about. Perhaps Ayo was the perceived scapegoat as the PG and ball handler.

Who knows, probably just THT knows the truth. In either case, it's all water under the bridge and he very likely knows where he's headed. I'm pretty sure the staff did their diligence, knows as well, and have assured both players what their roles will be on the Illini, and that there will be a plethora of opportunity for each of them. Furthermore, they're walking into a very talented team with plenty of mouths to feed, but also plenty of chances for them to shine along with the talent.

I just can't see a scenario of the staff not diving into this, and wouldn't be recruiting both if it were a potential cancer. I just hope THT feels great enough about the pitch and is all in and ready to jump onboard!

I could be wrong, but I thought there was a reporter that quoted THT as saying that each of his top 3 would have in-homes this week. This is just based on my memory, so it could be absolutely false. Someone else might need to confirm.

My thoughts too. Seems like this is something that would have been discussed previously by Ayo's camp prior to him committing and making public comments that they are all in on being Illini's forever. Especially since THT's OV was already scheduled at that point.
