It must be Thursday cause I'm thirsty for this THT commit.

The "Underwood is a great coach, but can't recruit" meme is about to die. The hand wringing was way overblown. The powder keg is lit.
Underwood may have gotten the 3 best players available in this state since he took the job. Groce would’ve been a savior if he did that in year 3 or 4

Okay, so now we know he can recruit... but can he coach? :noidea:
"He's never even been to a S16!"
I went back and re-read a good portion of this thread and had to smile reading all the "BU can't close," "other first-year coaches have big recruits already," "look at all the guys turning us down" comments.
The FBI is here?????!!Maybe the FBI can look into this while they're here.
Coach Underwood has done a solid job on the recruiting front before even coaching a single game. If the players adapt to Underwood's style and have what they call the 7 sec. offense, i'm sure other recruits in the near future can buy into that. Hopefully THT has an Illini polo on at 6:30 pm CST.
What about if THT says, "I'm committing to..." and the Ayo comes out wearing a white Illini polo with another in hand then gives it to THT?
And then we all have a good laugh.
Hey, there were a few of us that countered those comments with the positives about what he's done, and how you need to be patient and let it play out.
Might not be a polo but it will definitely be orange and blue.

The key to this thing all along was winning over that Chicago circle. The Irvins have always wanted those blue bloods tor that national splash that helped their team. Who can blame them? We had two kinda dorky (I loved them btw) white coaches in a row.
Something has changed. There is a fire lit in Chicago.

So to kill time, for those who have seen them play, who will be a better college player between Demonte and THT? I know it's tough because of the injury and recruits are always better than current players but I can't stop feeling Demonte is being criminally underrated. When I think of the highest ceiling of this (potential) roster I see Smith, Ayo and Demonte as the three most likely to get us there.
Rocking my Illinois shirt under my scrubs today.
