Because Rivals is terrible. Top247 is the best ranking to follow, where Epps is ranked 58th.

I have always thought that he simply wasn't ever very interested in us to begin with. For me, it was enough when he made it to Michigan State THREE times before ever getting to Champaign

Could turn that around and say he is showing respect by not wasting staffs time and one of our official visit slots if he doesn't have legitimate interest.

We have a limited number of official visits available. If staff knows he will not commit, why invite him for an official visit? It would be better used on someone who is persuadable. It is just as likely that the coaches did not offer an official visit.

On Werner’s pod, Piper said we probably won’t even get a visit from Schutt. I know we had staff turnover but thought Brad had been on him since he was a frosh. Anyone know what happened there? Or is he such a lock to Duke he doesn’t want to waste anyone else’s time?

I'm ok if Schutt goes to Duke if he's not interested in Illinois. Just don't want him in the Big Ten burying 3's against us.

It’s entirely possible that I’m way off base in my assessment of Jayden Epps, but I really think he’s one of the more skilled guards in the class and has a really bright future ahead of him at Illinois. The fact Brad Underwood chose to prioritize him only strengthens my feelings on him because he certainly has had pretty good success evaluating and recruiting guards lately. The Fighting Illini fans should be really excited about having him in their 2022 class.
