I would hope that the regular posters or the visiting posters here will not post derogatory comments about the trusted poster's here who share what they hear or are told regarding recruiting news ,,,,

If anyone here can shed light on any of those trusted posters attempting to lie or mislead us here then you better have evidence beyond a reasonable doubt as the ones here who share with us whatever they know , are my friends and trusted fellow Illini fanatics who I know only want the best for Illini Nation ......

Derogatory comments about other posters are against the rules of this board and can be reported by anyone to Dan and should be reported ........We are all here to have fun and follow the beloved Fighting Illini programs.....Let's act with maturity and decency as we do that !!!!

Well, time to spin it positively. We just have way too many good guards right now. Sencire, Epps, and Belo can all handle the ball as PG/CG. Add in Rogers as a point forward. Kylan was scared of the competition right? right? Lol jk.

But in all seriousness, recruiting losses like this don't hurt nearly as much with the portal being such a big thing now. I still think coaches are adjusting to it and trying to figure out the best way to use it. But down the road I believe the top programs will consistently be bringing in 1 or 2 stud transfers a year. And those transfers will be looked at as the new five stars.

I agree with this. There’s no need for it. They take the time out of their day to share information. We lost out on a recruit. Oh well there will be more. That’s part of the business....on to the next one, who actually wants to be here.

It ain’t over yet. As at least 2 insiders have said already and others have acknowledged. We haven’t “lost” this one yet. There is a lot of time between now and Monday.

Was looking at branham’s predictions so far - they seem to all have been pretty clear cut favorites - North Carolina kid going to nvm state, Kentucky legacy going to UK, kid from Louisville going to Louisville, kid from Lafayette going to Purdue.

Obviously they are kids and could always change their minds, but this seems by far to be his most risky prediction, no matter how you look at it.

He also talked to Kylan after the AZ visit

This is probably the furthest thing from the truth, Kofi committed to us after we lost to Florida International on his OV.

Edit: or Florida Atlantic. They were so bad I can’t even remember.
UCF. I was at that game, one we thought we’d win the whole time and then Trent missed two FTs and we couldn’t stop their PG at all. I remember being shocked when Kofi picked us.

Where do his parents and siblings live? IL or AZ? Or do they want to move to AZ? And then move again to his NBA city?

Ayo and his parents got it just right. Stay home.

Disappointing. But not as devastating because we have Epps on board. This isn’t like previous situations where we’ve been all in on a guy with no other options.

Staff went for the home run. Almost pulled it off. But in the end we already have a top PG on the way in this class.

Underwood has also proven that he has the ability to identify talent and get players.

We’ll be alright.

I don’t think anyone is saying we won’t be alright there’s just levels to this stuff and we just don’t land these top 15 kinda guys it would’ve been nice to start to shred that narrative. Whether it was JJ Taylor or Boswell doesn’t matter just needed one to take this thing off.

We will eventually. Got to consistently get to the big dance every year and win some championships and the rest will take care of itself. Good start last year winning the B1G conference championship. This year hopefully an outright or share of the regular season title or another B1G conference championship and a better run in the big dance. Just got to keep climbing the ladder.

Bigtex

DFW
Which kinda feels like a “I want to commit” not a “I want to play at Illinois”.
IMO Fears camp wanted a quick commitment while the fire was hot and his rankings were high.

Maybe his rankings stay high and Illinois staff mis-read this one
or
Maybe his rankings are high and he falls from here and the staff properly analyzed the situation

I think some updates to the card are needed, but I was still almost able to get a bingo in this recruiting thread. Very surprised I haven't seen a "nut punch" or "didn't want him anyway", though maybe I pulled the trigger too quickly 🤷‍♂️ For the record, "bags" is now deceptive/over-the-top NIL numbers.

Here:

"We didn't want him anyway."

Stupid "Miznoz"

I wanted at least one 'winner' on the board today.

😉

Yeah I get that. That’s why I said it’s disappointing.

We’ve seen these things and this place spiral. The end of Weber and the Groce years did some damage to the collective Illini psyche.

I just think it’s important to remember that this isn’t like Brunson for example. Having Epps on board is a big deal.

Ha ha ha. You people are so gullible. Obviously the insiders got together and decided to post one after another (or thereabouts) that Boswell wasn’t coming so we’d have this wonderful surprise on Monday. They’re just trying to give us whatever the opposite of a nut punch is.

Did you look at any for the two years prior to this one? Because hit rate on those (I found one out of 140+ that he legit got wrong, not a decommit and switch) makes it seem like when he throws in a crystal ball pick, he knows something. Given that history, I'd be surprised if he threw in a pick based on a gut feeling or the Babcock thing, since there's a good argument at least for why he'd pick Illinois.

Agree with your comments…… whoever you are.
Difficult to definitively know it is actually Pru, without any Pru signatures:
A. Walken GIF
B. NL #3, or possibly NL #2 or NL #1 reference
C. 420 inclusion
D. “It really, really….”
E. Today’s menu which would include random items such as pickled cabbage, root beer sautéed green beans with anchovies….

Don’t know that I can remember a “Pru” post without a combination of 3 or 4 Pru signatures.
Otherwise, soldi post and agree. I appreciate the insider content.

Even if there is a commit elsewhere on Monday, it is nine months before he can sign. So it is not over and a lot can change in the interim.

But even if it is over, my philosophy is--after "losing" a potential recruit, I say to myself "NEXT!" Who else are we recruiting?

Rather than wringing my hands about the past I'm optimistic about the future! We have a great coach and coaching staff and success on and off the court (see Ayo and Georgi ) and the future is rosy.

So...who else are we looking at for 2023?

People are surprised Boswell may not want to “come home.” It’s not surprising to me at all. I moved from southern IL when I was about 10. When someone asks me where I’m from it’s not southern IL.

His family and friends are on the west coast. While I understand he has some family here and possibly some old friends. His main support system of mom and dad are on the west coast.

Id also be willing to bet he has stronger bonds with his friends he’s made in high school compared to grade school.

I get he’s from this area, but this probably isn’t what he considers “home” anymore.
Pushing back on this a bit, I moved from C-U at almost the exact same age as Boswell. All depends on the depth of your friend connections at that time, but I found moving away tough and am still "from C-U" in my head. Most of his extended family is here, his mom and dad are on the west coast (despite growing up in C-U) because of him, and it's not like he's moved to one spot out there and stayed -- in just a couple years he's moved from a high school in SoCal to a prep school in AZ. Not saying it hasn't happened, but that doesn't seem like a recipe for strong bonds with your classmates or a strong connection to one place. All that said, I am not him and for a lot of young people, what is "home" (particularly when home is in central Illinois) is boring. Could be he's simply enjoyed his time on the west coast and wants to stay. Could be the thought of going to college 5-10 minutes away from much of your family feels claustrophobic -- that is certainly how I felt when choosing where to go to college. "Home" isn't necessarily a draw for all people, particularly for someone young and with the options to go anywhere they like.
