If no TSJ, any chance at Murray? Or is he blueblood-bound, too?
Definitely a chance at Murray but a ton of coaches are in NOLA right now for the final four so a lot of the guys who just hit the portal haven’t started the entire process yet. Once guys set up their visits it will start to become a lot more clear. That’s why it was always ludicrous to call a guy a lock somewhere when he hasn’t even taken his visits yet.

Skyy will end up at Illinois but TSJ… the insiders on here got way ahead of themselves with TSJ and all the credit talk is just an excuse. It was always going to be a blue blood.

I get a big kick every time someone alludes to "insiders" ... here ... on Loyalty. Is this Washington DC, where people are paid to leak info? Are people listening to sports media that are driven by constant speculation? Does someone know someone who knows someone who said something? I guess I can only conclude that it's one of two things:

Doesn't HAVE to finish here, it's just that it would take 2 years to get the degree. As opposed to some other schools, where he might be able to get it in 1. If he doesn't care, it's a non-issue. But if he's concerned about getting the degree in 1 year, Illinois is obviously at a disadvantage.
What if he’s already finished 1 Bachelors degree? It can be done in 3 yrs.

I didn’t run, but I did yell “Newton is the greatest!“ at every State xcountry meet and pep rally for 4 years. Looks like that recruit you posted about, Nojus, is already 6’4” as a ‘24 with Tim Anderson as his recruiter, according to 247. He looks pretty raw but definitely has some talent…

Anyone else ever stop and wonder what the heck we are doing with our lives? Lol

Living Life is ‘Fluid’. We need to constantly check our ‘Growth Plates’ and ‘Keep Our Cups Securely On’ because we’ve all been ‘Burned Before’. You never know when Life looks like It’s putting one kind of Cap on... then throws us a curve and suddenly puts on a cap of another while throwing us a snide, sideways look of guilty pleasure.

But we’re all Every Day Guys and Girls here. And we can we work hard and dream big, We can be Elite, too!

And as for what we’re doing with our lives... we are obsessive about Illini basketball. And no one worth listening to will ever have a problem with that.

Now... back to random speculation about what a 17-year-old might decide to do even though HE doesn’t know yet...

Some people seem to be miserable, seem to want to make others miserable, and when they get called out on it often assert that they are just "realists" fulfilling their ordained purpose in life to protect "optimists" from the terrible twin dangers of enthusiasm and hope.

To them, I say:

Wowza. Wonder if the new transfer rule will incentivize ADs to keep bad coaches longer to give off a semblance of stability
Murray State is actually in worse position. LSU is taking in a bunch of Murray commits and transfers. Murray's entire team transferred too and they're stuck with just 1 commit.

I was gonna say, somehow, they end up taking the LSU sanctions on the chin. Good luck Steve Prohm.

They're moving from the OVC to the Missouri Valley too this year, huge step up in competition. Granted the Valley has been clobbered by the portal so far.

KK Robinson in the portal... we were on him out of HS only 6'0" though...

This isn't correct. The issue is that in order to get a degree from UIUC, you must complete 60 credit hours at UIUC. Shannon is likely only going to be here for one year which isn't enough to get 60 credits (usually 15 per semester is the average).
That is what I just said in a different way. He was at Texas Tech for three years. If he earned the usual 15 per semester or 30 hrs per year, that would add up to 90 hrs. A normal bachelors degree requires 120. He would need 30 more. But if UI requires he earn 60 at UI; then only 60 transfer credits, or two years worth, would apply toward the degree.

Assuming all that is true, if I am in those shoes; I look for a school that applies all my transfer credits toward a degree. So I would only need 30, doable in one year. That is just me.

I have a hard time believing that the University President doesn't have the ability to override this requirement. He has decision making power......use it on a waiver!

Could he not transfer in, get 30 hours credit in one year, transfer those hours back into T-Tech and get his degree from there?

And I believe that is the Issue at hand. That’s why I believe in the end it will be hard for him to pass up an opportunity to attend a University that he’ll graduate after next year. Can’t blame the young man if that is what he chooses to do.
