Isn't most NIL money attached in some way to the brand of the school as well? Since the school owns the rights to that, it makes sense to me that it would get a cut.
what if I wanted to buy game worn socks? for a friend. Would the school get a cut of that?

If it had any Illinois trademarked graphics. I’m guessing, and as the last poster said, University taking a cut makes co-marketing the player and school legit. Otherwise everything thing Kofi did that might reference Illinois Basketball could be viewed as a “payment” from Illinois.

Are we interested in him or is he interested in us?
Somebody said it's the later (is that you 0440)? Coupled with the rumor that he is DePaul bound (I have my doubt), maybe he wants to play near home.

He will get paid straight from the source. Illinois will get about 170k of it and opendorse will get a % of it. Opendorse just acts as the oversight to make sure everything is by the book.
Happy to hear kofi has legit legit money coming his way.

Does the school offer financial planning/advice as well so he can spend his money wisely, get his money making more money etc?

This is from the previous thread (I’m way behind):

The roster would be in great shape. One of the best on paper in a long time. But to say it would have more talent than the ‘05 team seems like a stretch to me…

I was talking about the entire 13 not just the top 7. We could not go that deep in 2005 as we will next year. Now if Randle did not get hurt, then that 05 team could go 10 deep.

Now, I just MUST ask:

HOW did Randle play 3 times/game?

Illinois is one of a few schools who hired people to specifically advise their athletes on their money, taxes, etc…..but ultimately he is in charge of what he does with it.

Our rules must have changed since the beginning. IL was originally one of the places that wasn’t allowing players wear anything licensed or trademarked. Others could wear anything and seems like there was a third category that was maybe somewhere in the middle.

Also I thought the staff was steering kids more towards the Guardian NIL monies so Open Endorse wouldn’t take a cut.

Funny how fast things seem to change.

Any sightings of Murray? Any chance he is floored by the new renovations at Ubben and the possibility of playing with Kofi next year? Can we make a big enough impression to steer him away from Georgetown? And last of all, if it is him or Shannon who does the staff take?

Not sure, but I heard he bought one of those KAM'S candles. That has to be a good sign right?
