DeonThomas

South Carolina
Updated NCAA Basketball portal list (ESPN). I'd like to get #11 and #16.

i

1. Kendric Davis, 5-11, 180 lbs., PG, Sr., SMU

Davis became the No. 1 transfer the moment he entered the portal. The AAC Player of the Year, Davis averaged 19.4 points, 4.8 rebounds, 4.4 assists and shot 37.2% from 3-point range for the Mustangs in 2021-22. He originally began his career at TCU.

i

2. Nijel Pack, 6-0, 180 lbs., PG, Soph., Kansas State

A first-team All-Big 12 selection this past season, Pack averaged 17.4 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.2 assists, while shooting 43.6% from 3-point range. He's an Indianapolis native, leading some to believe Purdue is the favorite, but other schools are involved.

i

3. KJ Williams, 6-10, 245 lbs., PF, Jr., Murray State

Williams doesn't plan on diving into his recruitment until he sees how the NBA draft process plays out -- although going to LSU to play for his former coach Matt McMahon is on the table. The Ohio Valley Player of the Year averaged 18.0 points and 8.4 rebounds.

i

4. Johni Broome, 6-10, 235 lbs., C, Fr., Morehead State

Broome has been a dominant force for two seasons, earning first-team All-OVC honors each of the past two seasons. Averaged 16.8 points, 10.5 rebounds and 3.9 blocks this past season, going for 32 points and eight boards against Murray State in the OVC title game.

i

5. Kenneth Lofton Jr., 6-7, 275 lbs., PF, Soph., Louisiana Tech

A dominant force so far at the college and international levels, Lofton averaged 16.5 points and 10.5 rebounds this past season. Despite his size, he is tremendously productive, and his performance with USA Basketball suggests it will translate to a higher level.

i

6. Norchad Omier, 6-7, 232 lbs., PF, Fr., Arkansas State

The Sun Belt Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year, Omier was simply dominant this past season. Averaged 17.9 points, 12.2 rebounds, 2.0 blocks and 1.6 steals. Omier, who is from Nicaragua, shot better than 63% from the field.

i

7. Mark Sears, 6-1, 185 lbs., PG, Soph., Ohio
Committed to Alabama
Sears entering the portal and going to Alabama wasn't an overly well-kept secret over the last couple weeks, as Sears is heading back home next season. The first-team All-MAC pick averaged 19.6 points, 6.0 rebounds, 4.1 assists and shot 40.8% from 3.

i

8. Brandon Murray, 6-5, 214 lbs., SG, Fr., LSU
Committed to Georgetown

i

9. Trevon Brazile, 6-9, 215 lbs., PF, Fr., Missouri
Committed to Arkansas

i

10. Tristen Newton, 6-5, 190 lbs., PG, Soph., East Carolina
Committed to UConn

i

11. Terrence Shannon Jr., 6-6, 215 lbs., SF, Jr., Texas Tech

A big name in the portal, Shannon never quite got going this season after being suspended to start the campaign and then dealing with nagging injuries. But he put up numbers when healthy and has a track record of production in college. Averaged 10.4 points.

i

12. Fardaws Aimaq, 6-11, 245 lbs., C, Jr., Utah Valley

One of the most productive players in the country over the last two seasons, Aimaq averaged 18.9 points and 13.6 rebounds this past season. Two-time first-team All-WAC selection and two-time WAC Defensive Player of the Year. Don't expect a decision until May.

i

13. Andre Curbelo, 6-1, 175 lbs., PG, Soph., Illinois

Has one of the highest ceilings of anyone in the portal, but there's also a clear floor. Curbelo was fantastic coming off the bench as a freshman, leading to a ton of preseason hype. But he dealt with concussion issues and then simply wasn't effective on the floor. Averaged 7.5 points and 3.2 assists.

i

14. Jahmir Young, 6-1, 185 lbs., PG, Jr., Charlotte

i

15. Will Richard, 6-5, 195 lbs., SG, Fr., Belmont
Committed to Florida

i

16. Courtney Ramey, 6-3, 185 lbs., G, Sr., Texas

Likely has one of the highest floors of anyone in the portal. Started at least 20 games in all four of his seasons at Texas, playing under different styles and in different roles. Career 10.0-point-per-game scorer, shot 36.5% from 3 in four seasons.

i

17. Antoine Davis, 6-1, 165 lbs., G, Sr., Detroit

I like Miller as much or more because he would have 3 years left. If he happened to play well enough to leave for the league then even better but he would likely be here longer than those others. He has Peoria and Illinois roots. Plus I think he has more potential that has yet to be tapped. He played very well for a freshman in a tierchiary role at best. I think he will be better than many of you may.
I like Miller a lot but I think he likes himself more and dose not want to share the spotlight with a team of players like we have. I think he wants the NBA more then anything and wants to shine on whatever team he goes to. SO I would be shocked if he came back.

Emoni Bates has the shortest arms I've ever seen on any basketball player. It's the most freakishly weirdest thing.

Trent was always an ok shooter that was very streaky. I would like a legit around 40 percent consistent three point shooter. While what you said may be a small part of it s lot of guys that are shooters that happens to. What brought TF down more than anything was being forced to play point since AC never found himself this season. Coming off screens would have helped his numbers. That being said we need more shooters with some size. We have added some last year and with this years class. It is my expectation that will most certainly happen more in the portal. I anticipate we add at least one more starter that can shoot that is not yet signed to our current roster. If that happens and Kofis passing and overall game improves we will be better next season by the time the tourney rolls around. Going to be interesting to see who BU adds.
"We need more shooters with some size." Sounds like you're describing Goode. His fundamentals offensively and defensively are rock solid. And, he can fill it up from deep. I could see him playing the 2 or the 3 effectively. Some what unrelated: I think we put too much emphasis on these numbers; the 2 can be the 4 in a hurry depending on the game's blending pattern. Lots of subbing in and out nowadays and lots of check-offs and screening.

Guys Emoni was considered the next can’t-miss NBA superstar like two years ago. Yes his stock has fallen, he didn’t measure out amazingly and had an up-and-down freshman year.

He’s still an unbelievable talent and we would be insanely lucky to get him. Let’s remember he was 17 last year.

You might be right but likely he needs to go to a school a level or two below UI to get that kind of spotlight. I also don't think the chance of him back very high. It is possible but we certainly have options as good or better.

Goode for sure checks most boxes, that's why I thought I said last year's and this years recruits. I think Goode's not a 2. He is basically a 3 or a smaller stretch 4.He is certainly going to play meaningful minutes. He is a good athlete too just may not be quite the athlete that some of these guys we are looking at in the portal or explosive as RJ is. He may have athletic trait of strength over RJ. That's one reason he logged more minutes. I have high hopes for Goode. When Kofi is in the floor he may be nipping in Hawks heels if Hawk 3 point shooting doesnt improve. Goode is very capable and makes few mistakes and should only get better. I feeling good about Goode's future

LSU had some studs and likely more NBA guys than we did. He should have never left. Wade wasn't paying slouches before NIL! LOL
