Hypotheticals is all that’s been discussed the last two weeks
Perhaps he was weighing his options, including ending his basketball career to become a law student, and has opted to continue his basketball career insteadIt's weird that BBV got accepted into Illinois' College of Law very recently, only to transfer out. But it's all good.
sounds like a guy that would be great for Gates.

Elaborate?Not quite
Sure you can’t tell a guy that we are taking your scholarship away but you could definitely tell them you’re not going to play here….ever. What’s the difference. You can think it doesn’t happen because of a Big Ten rule if you want but I’ll have to agree to disagree. It's possible that the whole AAU coach says he's going to Michigan followed by TSJ's camp saying "no he's not committed yet.." and then silence could very well be (totally spitballing here, I have no info) a case where he did soft commit but they need a spot to open up and Howard is trying to convince an end of roster guy to go seek options elsewhere.
But you CANNOT outright Crean in the Big Ten before a player has been there for 4 years. The Big Ten switched its policy a few years ago to guarantee 4-year scholarships (a player can still be removed for non-basketball reasons such as behavioral or academics). For instance, Underwood cannot just outright cut Lieb if he wants to stick around and finish his Illinois degree in order to open up a spot (of course, we have so many spots as of this moment that this doesn't even seem that desirable since we likely won't fill all the spot as is). Like it is not allowed. You can always tell a player "I think it would be better for you if you transferred because I do not foresee a scenario where you see the floor next season or even beyond", but you cannot tell them that they don't have a scholarship next season due to basketball reasons.
It is very possible Michigan could be in a numbers crunch right now. Happens all the time with Football teams where they really have to scramble to get under 85. Less frequently in Basketball because the 3rd stringers usually don't want to stick around and 2nd stringers leave regularly too, but every situation is unique.
You can click a user's profile and see just their posts.Dear Dan,
Is there any way you can create a "block all but..." button, so I could block everyone but you, Illini0440 and Indy Illini Fan. It would be great if I only had one or two pages of recruiting thread to read daily. The other posters can be entertaining at times, but I don't have an hour a day to keep up with the recruiting thread at this time.
Thank you in advance for your consideration.
Best regards,
alaskaillini
Agreed. Mobile, great timing and nose for the ball. Would be a nice compliment to DD. Free throw % isn't great unfortunately.Would be a big addition. All of those St Bonaventure kids are departing, hoping we can land one. This might be the most intriguing
Wut...Not quite
I agree 100% that's why I don't see any wings after TSJ being brought in. With Rodgers in the mix as well, there isn't much tick to be hadRJ will be getting 30 MPG next year regardless of who is brought in. This is his team now.
It's everyone else whose playing time will be affected as BU and co continue to round out the roster.
the point being if the player wants to stick around and be a glorified cheerleader, there isn't much you can do about it as a CoachSure you can’t tell a guy that we are taking your scholarship away but you could definitely tell them you’re not going to play here….ever. 5 and/or 4 will look differentElaborate?
In that scenario yes, but my guess is at the D1 level that is a minority.the point being if the player wants to stick around and be a glorified cheerleader, there isn't much you can do about it as a Coach
Take luck! Now, I am going to see Brian Regan in about 2.5 hours, so if the "announcement" would hurry up, it would be much appreciated.
Back to your regularly scheduled programming.....
The difference is one he doesn't get a degree from Michigan but gets playing time somewhere else. The other he never plays but gets a degree from Michigan.Sure you can’t tell a guy that we are taking your scholarship away but you could definitely tell them you’re not going to play here….ever. What’s the difference. You can think it doesn’t happen because of a Big Ten rule if you want but I’ll have to agree to disagree.
If you be don't want to be challenged go play for a loser n hit the bricks. Competition will only make us better. Who is in charge here or anywhere the chiefs or the Indians? There can only be one Chief and it's BU.exactly. good players want to play with good players. I'd be a lot more worried about Melendez leaving next year because we don't put together winning talent.
If Co Hawk and/or Dain aren’t starting then something major has to happen? What do you think that would be, if you had to guess?5 and/or 4 will look different
